A few of you have been sending me photos saying, “Ash, have you seen these?” so I thought I’d better go and investigate for myself.

First Aldi brought out a croissant candle.

Now Poundland have entered the chat with a “Football Pitch” candle and a “Flame Grilled BBQ” candle.

At this point, I think we finally know how Colin the Caterpillar felt. 🐛😂

The thing is, our candles aren’t just about the scent on the label. Every one of our candles are hand-poured in our Ouseburn studio using soy wax, premium fragrance oils and sustainable materials. We obsess over fragrance strength because a candle should actually scent a room, not just exist in it.

And if I’m honest... the Poundland versions don’t even look pretty. 👀

Still, fair play to them for trying 😂

Inspired by matchdays at Elland Road, fresh-cut grass under the floodlights and the sound of Marching On Together ringing around the ground, this is my tribute to Leeds fans everywhere.

This autumn, Hot Wax is heading to the south side of the Tyne for a brand new workshop venue — and what a venue it is.

Think candle making, great drinks, and some of the best views in Newcastle, with the iconic Tyne Bridge and Quayside as your backdrop. ✨

We’ve partnered with to bring Hot Wax workshops to the Gateshead side of the river, and we genuinely can’t wait for you to see what we’ve got planned.

Our full Autumn & Winter programme is being finalised right now, including this brand-new venue, returning favourites, and of course a little bit of Christmas magic. 🎄

Right you lot, after listening to all your messages (and the amount of “are you open today?” DMs 😅), we’re changing our opening hours at

We’re now opening an extra day each week, giving you more chances to pop in, sniff candles, grab your favourites and see what madness we’re pouring in the shop 👀

BUT… we’re giving with one hand and taking with the other slightly…(don’t come at me)

From TOMORROW our new opening hours are:

Wednesday – Saturday: 11am – 4pm
Sunday: 11am – 3pm

More days. More croissant candles. More excuses to “just accidentally” leave with a bag full of wax melts.
