💙 Two beautiful fabrics… and proof that patterns really can be friends!

I love putting different designer fabrics together to see how they work as a pairing, and I think these two are a match made in heaven!

The cushion on the left is made using Lewis & Wood, with its lovely whimsical birds and decorative motifs, while the cushion on the right is from a gorgeous Whiteman & Mellor fabric. This one has an elegant, more structured pattern. Both have those gorgeous muted blue and soft neutral tones that bring everything together beautifully.

And this is exactly why I love working with fabrics. You don't have to match everything perfectly to create a lovely interior. Sometimes, it's the contrast between two patterns that makes a room feel interesting, layered and full of personality.

With my knowledge of designer fabrics and soft furnishings, I can often suggest combinations that you might not have considered yourself. The right cushions, curtains, Roman blinds or even a lampshade can make such a difference to a room, without having to start from scratch.

💕 When you love a fabric so much that you just HAVE to have a lampshade to match! 💕

This gorgeous print was chosen by a lovely customer who wanted to bring a little extra colour, pattern and personality into her home. So, naturally, we created a beautiful bespoke cushion and a coordinating handmade lampshade to bring the whole look together 🌸

The colours and pattern work beautifully together creating a beautifully considered interior with that relaxed, elegant country-house feel. Sometimes, it’s the little details that make a house feel truly like home ✨

💚 If you love IKAT… you get my pattern! 😉

When you see a beautiful designer fabric, it really stands out and in this case, this gorgeous Irate is from Cowtan & Tout and is called 'Rapallo' and it really is a beauty! 💚 With its gorgeous sage green, soft blue and ivory geometric pattern, it brings just the right mix of character, colour and understated luxury to a room.

As with all of my cushions, I make them by hand in my Burford studio and in this case, I only have 2 available so if you'd like them in your home, you might want to check them out 🤔

One of my favourite ways to bring an interior to life is by mixing patterns, and believe me, it can make all the difference! 💙

✨ A Cushion with a Story to Tell… ✨

Some fabrics are simply beautiful. Others have a story woven into their very design ❤️

This very special 60cm x 60cm luxury feather-filled cushion, handmade in my Burford studio using Ilian by Lewis & Wood — a wonderfully characterful design with a fascinating history.

Inspired by a remarkable embroidered bed hanging from Epirus, a region of western Greece bordering Albania, the extraordinary pattern takes its inspiration from a textile tradition that once supplied much of the Ottoman Empire in the 18th century. Reinterpreted by Lewis & Wood with kind permission of the Victoria & Albert Museum, it's a beautiful meeting of historical craftsmanship and contemporary interior design.

I absolutely love the intricate, almost folk-art quality of this design, with its charming birds, curious creatures and decorative motifs set against a wonderfully textured, muted blue ground. It's full of personality, bringing depth, character and a touch of the unexpected to a relaxed country-house interior.

Made with a generous feather inner for that lovely plump, inviting finish, this substantial 60cm x 60cm cushion is piped and zipped, allowing the fabulous pattern to take centre stage.

Imagine it nestled into a deep linen sofa, layered with earthy neutrals, natural textures and complementary cushions. Perfect for anyone who loves luxury designer cushions, distinctive fabrics and timeless Cotswold interiors that feel collected rather than coordinated.

🌸 Florals & checks? I say YES ~ it's definitely a match made in country house heaven! 🌿

Who says everything has to match perfectly? Some of the most welcoming interiors happen when you’re bold with pattern, colour and texture.

I love mixing a pretty floral with a classic check ~ especially when the colours have a little connection. It creates that relaxed, collected feel that makes a country kitchen or Cotswold home feel warm, joyful and full of personality.

So, my advice? Don’t be afraid to mix it up! ✨

Think floral cushions, gingham checks, stripes, natural textures and plenty of character. Your home should reflect who you are ~ not a showroom.

This wonderfully elegant cushion cover has been made using a stunning fabric from the Austin collection by Thibaut and this is the Spa Blue colour-way ~ a sophisticated combination of soft blue, ivory and neutral tones that sits effortlessly within a classic interior.

I love how the geometric pattern brings just enough detail and personality, while the gentle colour palette keeps the overall feeling calm and refined. It’s the perfect designer cushion to layer with linen, stripes and complementary patterns.

And because you don’t always need to change the whole room to make an impact, you can just introduce one beautifully chosen piece of fabric and voila!

Handmade in my Burford studio, I made this a sizeable cushion at 55cm x 55cm and as always, piped and zipped and filled to the brim with a quality feather inner for that wonderfully full, luxurious finish shown here.

Don’t be afraid of orange 🧡

Orange has a wonderful way of bringing warmth, energy and personality into a room and it doesn’t have to feel overwhelming.

Here, a rich burnt-orange velvet cushion sits beautifully alongside coral, blush and patterned fabrics, showing just how effortlessly colour, pattern and texture can work together. The result feels layered, joyful and sophisticated rather than overly matched.

I love using cushions to introduce colour because they’re such an easy way to experiment. Start with one beautiful statement cushion, then pick out one or two of its colours in complementary patterns and textures.
