There aren't many times ....if ever that I can say thank you to a previous installer of wood flooring!!!! But thank you.......as from your installation I was chosen to install new flooring, underlay DPM and level the existing flooring to the correct standard.
Upon lifting the existing flooring...two layers of underlay had been used to try to level the floor.....it didn't work and never will. The existing sub floor is a compound which doesn't have any damp proofing! As you can see damp had started to pe*****te the floor.
The correct procedure is to apply a DPM then let it dry, followed by a levelling compound and allowed to dry. A combi underlay with a DPM was installed along with fibreboard underlay to reduce noise. Finally the engineered flooring was installed.
