It’s a very sad week for the British Interior Design world. I am very disappointed to say that Designers Guild has ceased trading. Designers Guild has been one of my favourite British brands of furnishing fabrics since I began my career in the nineties. My own home is furnished with Designers Guild, and I have had the pleasure over the years of introducing the joy, colour, and freedom into many of your homes too. No other brand does tumbled linen like DG. Their painterly florals, vivid velvets, magical murals were just a few of their specialities. In recent years their plains, their rugged linens and their semi-sheers have been my “go to” and are just as delicious as the florals that DG were known for. I will miss this brand so much. I wish I had ordered a few metres of all my favourites, but it’s too late for that now. My condolences go to Tricia, Simon and all the staff at Designers Guild, including Andrew who came to visit us here in Peebles twice per year to show us the new, and always irresistible collections. The Guild empire have left a legacy which we will enjoy forever I’m sure. But Jo and I will be clearing the beautiful aqua blue books from our shelves tomorrow, with a very heavy heart. I leave you with this slideshow of some of our Designers Guild delights, in your homes and our studio. Thank you to all my customers who have given me the pleasure of working with Designers Guild.
