I’d be interested to know what you all think of this tourism tax, you will pay for every night you stay here, I will have to collect it and present accounts, HMRC will take their cut as will the Welsh government in Cardiff with precious little left to local council to spend locally. Tourism brings in approximately 1.4 billion pounds to the area, my business rates have risen by 60% and as for Gas and electricity charges!! All the businesses in the local area already benefit from the money you spend when you are here and I always use local businesses when I need work done but this seems to be overlooked and we continually here that other countries do it but they do not have 20% VAT, high business rates, and high energy costs as we do. 🤷‍♀️

Tourism Levy:

Conwy County Borough Council is consulting on plans to introduce a levy on overnight hospitality stays - also known as the tourism tax.

Instinctively I am very, very sceptical about the Council’s proposals. But it’s important that the public, especially those involved in the hospitality sector, have their say.
