After all the hard work of making beautiful bespoke curtains the finishing touches are so important.

Sometimes we dress the curtains before they leave the studio. This pair were left to show the difference between curtains that are just popped on to the track and ones where time is spent creating each fold evenly and precisely. The curtains are then loosely tied into shape for a day so they learn to return to these folds when opened and closed.

Before it gets too messy… although I’ve promised myself that it won’t!… here it is! The shiny new space that I now get to work in every day.

In the heart of Penzance, the bustle of Causewayhead happening outside my window. And the delicious dangerously close by! I can monitor the queue from my window and dash down when there is a rare lull.. for them & me!

The natural light here is wonderful and such a precious thing when considering colour schemes whether it be fabrics, papers or paints.

Drop me a message if you’d like a visit.

Because as wise ole Dolly says.. no one knows what’s around the corner… take the opportunities when they arise… take the chances and be brave… with a little luck, a lot of hard work you can conquer the fear of losing.

Just a small business trying to become a slightly bigger business… feeling the fear & doing it anyway 😬

A new table cover for a new studio.

Copied from the very fabulous Such a great idea for our cutting table so we can line up our Roman blind fabric and linings perfectly 📐

On the move…

A weekend of dismantling, moving, sorting & re building and wondering if I’d rather have a trade that required a lot less stuff! If all I had was a laptop…

I’ve been very lucky to have lots of strong helping hands and friends with vans. It will be worth it soon I’m sure!

Out of the country and into the city…

After 5 years in this wonderful converted milking parlour I’m off to pastures new… I’ll be opening the door on Monday morning to a very different studio.
This little place felt like a huge leap of faith 5 years ago and so, so much has happened in that time.. with work & with life. As ever the two are so inextricably linked.
Now there’s a new chapter and a new door to step through.
Can’t wait!!

Always slightly embarrassed to ask for a client review… turns out this one was a lovely surprise 😊

Triple pleat, hand made, super thick interlining & a very beautiful fabric.

I was lucky to have a little break from the sewing studio today to go and help out with some filming for
They kindly asked if I’d talk a little about how farming practices can affect the quality of our sea water.

Portreath was looking stunning today so I did have to have a quick sea swim before heading home. Nothing wrong with that sea water this morning! Crystal clear and not a jellyfish to be seen! 🪼

If you’re not aware already do take a look at some of the work the Trust carries out around Cornwall and the rest of the UK. It’s fascinating!

This selection of photos is a great way to show you the difference between pencil pleats, the heading often found on ready made curtains, and hand sewn double pinch pleats.

While every type of heading has its place I would suggest a pinch pleat in most cases as it makes the curtains look neater and they also take up much less space when drawn back.

These curtains were a refurb project for a stair case window, with a longer drop than my door! But you can hopefully still see the difference the new heading makes?
