our new studio in Oundle!

2022 was a year of growth, learnings, and success for us at BBA. As 2023 begins, we’re continuing the trend, with the opening of our second studio at The Courthouse in Oundle – a historic market town famous for its Georgian streets and limestone buildings.

Our Director and Co-founder, Luke, said: “Oundle is a special town, with a rich history of beautiful buildings and great architecture. It’s exciting to be opening our second studio – and to be doing it here, where our experience working within conservation areas and with listed buildings will stand us in good stead as we look to add to and enhance the beautiful architecture of the area.”

One of our directors, Luke Butcher, contributed to the RIBA article that "provided a considered, thoughtful, and sometimes surprising list of things they want to see from the industry on their festive wish list." to have Matthew Smith on site today for a photoshoot of our project in Norfolk. Completed in late 2021, we can’t wait to showcase the side extension which has transformed the original cottage. The work involved the demolition of a poorly performing lean to, with a new space to house an enlarged kitchen and dining area. Stay tuned for more!

Our Copper House project has been named a RIBA East Award winner! We are delighted with the result and thrilled to be named alongside such illustrious company. Congratulations to the other winners too. The RIBA describes the project as a "bravura intervention" and we will be sharing more about the project over the coming days. A special thanks goes to our clients, and other project team members, who we collaborated with; as with all successful projects, it was very much a team effort.

with Matthew Smith Architectural Photography at the newly refurbished Ferry Meadows Visitor Centre in Nene Park, Peterborough. We worked with the Nene Park Trust on the refurbishment of the existing toilets, providing new accessible and inclusive facilities for park visitors. It was great to hear such positive feedback from visitors this morning about the new facilities. We're looking forward to sharing the completed shots soon.

to have been granted planning permission to refurbish and extend an ex-local authority home in Fen Ditton, Cambridge. Originally built as part of local council house development between 1918 and 1939, the semi-detached property had a curious first floor design (part dutch gable and part mansard roof), that presented an interesting challenge to extend. The new plan was carefully considered to minimise daylight loss to neighbouring properties, resulting in two volumes that are chamfered in plan and section. At first floor this led to a dynamic roof shape that will create a fantastic master bedroom, complete with window seat and a decorative screen window. On the ground floor, the extension provides a new open plan kitchen, dining and family space, perfect for a growing family. We are now working with Blue Engineering on the detailed design package.
