🧼 Carpet Browning Treatment & Cleaning – Stamford

Another carpet restoration job completed in Stamford.

These carpets had significant brown/yellow discolouration caused by a previous cleaning process, particularly noticeable across the stairs and landing. There were also some distinctive triangular marks consistent with previous wet extraction cleaning.

We carried out a specialist de-browning treatment, followed by a thorough clean and rinse. The results were excellent, with approximately 98% of the visible browning successfully removed. The remaining effect is now barely noticeable.

The photographs show the before and after results — no filters or alterations to the original photographs.

If your carpets have developed brown/yellow discolouration after a previous clean, don’t assume the carpet needs replacing. In many cases, specialist treatment can make a dramatic difference.

A vintage Draylon suite given some professional TLC today in Werrington, Peterborough. 🧼✨

Today we had the pleasure of cleaning this beautiful vintage Draylon sofa and armchair.

Draylon was a hugely popular upholstery material, particularly on furniture from the 1960s, 70s and 80s. It has that distinctive soft, slightly velvety feel and is incredibly hard-wearing — but cleaning original vintage upholstery like this requires a very different approach from cleaning modern sofas.

There are some important restrictions when cleaning vintage Draylon.

The age of the fabric, dyes and underlying materials have to be taken into consideration. Excessive moisture, heat or aggressive agitation can potentially cause problems such as colour movement, texture changes, pile disturbance, watermarking or prolonged drying.

That’s why we don’t simply treat it like an ordinary modern synthetic sofa. The fabric needs to be carefully assessed, tested and cleaned using controlled moisture and appropriate techniques, with the aim of improving its appearance while preserving as much of the original fabric as possible.

Original vintage Draylon is becoming increasingly uncommon, which makes looking after furniture like this particularly worthwhile.

Clean it. Don’t replace it. ♻️

A straightforward clean and rinse of a lounge and hallway carpet — but the results speak for themselves! 🧼

We pre-sprayed the carpets with Shockwave, allowing the solution to break down the everyday dirt and grime before rinsing thoroughly with Final Phase rinse agent.

Specialist Bouclé Sofa Cleaning – Orton Brimbles, Peterborough

This was a bouclé sofa cleaning job in Orton Brimbles, Peterborough.

The customer simply wanted the sofa freshened up but had struggled to find a company willing to clean bouclé.

And there's a good reason why some cleaners are cautious with this type of upholstery.

Bouclé has a distinctive looped texture which can be affected by too much water, excessive pressure, aggressive agitation, unsuitable chemicals or excessive heat. Depending on the fibre construction, incorrect cleaning can potentially cause matting, texture distortion, shrinkage, colour bleeding or browning.

For this sofa we used our Sapphire Scientific quick-drying upholstery tool, a self-neutralising cleaning solution and specialist rinsing agent.

We kept the water temperature around 30°C and the pressure low, allowing us to carefully clean and thoroughly rinse the fabric while keeping moisture and mechanical agitation under control.

The result is a properly freshened and professionally cleaned sofa, while taking the appropriate precautions to protect the bouclé's distinctive texture.
