Hello Everyone,

We want to say a heartfelt thank you for all your beautiful messages, cards, letters, flowers, thoughts, and prayers.
Every single one has meant the world to us during this time.

We will be holding a celebration of Ava’s life on Monday, 7th September at 2:00 pm at Rosedale Church. Parking will be available on the Milburn Field.

After the service, we would love for you to join us at the studio and marquees to share memories and celebrate Ava together. Everyone is welcome.

Hello Everyone,

It is with a deeply heavy heart that we share devastating news with you.

On Wednesday 29th July, not far from home, our beautiful and incredibly talented daughter Ava was taken from us in a car accident. Our family is completely heartbroken by this sudden loss.

As we navigate this profound grief and focus on supporting one another, Kate and Stephen will be taking some time away.

The Studio is open and full of colour and light; Dave and Peter will be here to welcome you.

We know many of you have been with us a long, long time and have watched Ava and Finlay grow. We will share details of Ava’s celebration of life in due course and all will be welcome.

So many of you have kindly asked how you can show support. In Ava’s honour we will be establishing a memorial fund to celebrate her life and her legacy in hair and makeup in film and television. Details will be shared as soon as possible.

We kindly ask for your patience, understanding, and grace regarding any delayed response times or adjustments to our usual work over the coming weeks.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your ongoing support, warmth and kindness during this unimaginably difficult time.

"It was a privilege to have raised you and loved you"

The family of a young woman who tragically died following a collision near Wrelton have paid tribute to their "beautiful daughter, sister and granddaughter".

Ava Gillies, 26, was involved in a two-vehicle road traffic collision on the A170 near Wrelton at 1.30am on Wednesday 29 July, which saw a black Audi A4 collide with Ava's white Volkswagen Polo.

Despite the best efforts of the emergency services, Ava was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

In a heartfelt tribute, her family said: "Ava, we will always, always miss you, your wit, your charm, your beauty, your feisty confidence, your many talents and your excellence in your field: hair & makeup for film and TV.

"In almost 27 years with us, you packed in so much, study, travel, and work. It was a privilege to have raised you and loved you. Our beautiful daughter, sister and granddaughter, your loss is immeasurable.

"We are so proud of your hard work and success, your BAFTA Connect membership and the opportunities that brought your career path from talented artist to new designer."

They continued, saying: "what’s becoming clearer with every passing day is you were loved by so many people outside the family, your friends and the community in which you were raised.

"We take great comfort from the comments, cards and messages from people within the film industry and their expressions of love and respect for your talent.

"Our family will be forever grateful for the help, love and support we have received from our village, family and friends at this time.

"We would like to thank the emergency services and the Police family liaison officers. We would ask that members of the media refrain from contacting us directly.

"Plans for Ava’s funeral and a celebration of her life will be announced in due course."

Our thoughts remain with Ava's family, friends, and all who knew her during this incredibly sad time.

Grateful for a cool June and looking forward to the start of autumn and the re lighting of the furnace after annual maintenance checks.

This weekend it’s the first of two North Yorkshire Open Studios.

Only our main studio gallery will be open 6&7th June.

Kate’s private studio will be fully open to visitors on the weekend of 13&14th June.
