🕷️ Incy Wincy Spider climbed up the water spout 💧

I posted a very simple tuff tray activity yesterday and this one was even quicker and with less parts to it… and Harry was engaged for just as long (probably longer if it wasn’t nap time!). Winner!

As soon as I gave Harry ‘s smooshy sand, he immediately started pretending it was rain so I quickly grabbed a cardboard tube and the spider TP and rain TP and with no input from me, he began singing Incy Wincy Spider 🎶 He then realised he could form the sand by using the tube and played happily for ages!

🛠️ Super simple set-up, but Harry is loving it! It took me 5 minutes to set-up and he’s already been playing with it for over an hour!! Lots of independent play which has allowed him to explore counting, fine motor skills and language exploration (Harry’s voice for his builder is hilarious!) 🛠️

We used our builder TP, explorer TP (the boss watching with his binoculars apparently), and our two Harry TPs. We used our amazing meadow sensory base and resin numbers from .so.tuff.trays alongside our construction toys that we already had.

Today marks the start of Children’s Mental Health Week and, as a mummy and a teacher, it is something that is very important to me and so this TP is incredibly special to me! The feedback that I’ve had from parents who have gifted one to their littley always makes me ridiculously emotional 🥹🥰

To help promote awareness of children’s mental health, for this week you can gave a worry TP join your family at a special discounted price - our biggest ever discount!

What is a worry TP I hear you ask! Well, based on Guatemalan tradition, if you share your worries to a worry doll, place it under your pillow then in the morning, your worries will be gone. Here at Tilly’s Pegs we have adapted this and created a worry TP where you can choose the colour of the hat and it comes with a special little poem for the recipient. They are the perfect size to carry in your pocket or to tuck under your pillow at night. Lots of parents tell me that they have the additional bonus of being a ‘fidget/twiddle’ toy too which can help soothe and calm.

🦦♥️ I otter-ly adore you ♥️🦦

🐦 🪱 We love open-ended play in our house and sometimes the simplest set-ups are the most fun as they allow imaginations to go off in so many different directions! 🪱🐦

Today we played with our wonderful robin and explorer TPs alongside .so.tuff.trays wiggly worms and .messy sensory bases and wooden tongs and egg cup.

For our play, we were bird watching; making bird breakfasts and reenacting Superworm and whilst doing that it meant that Harry was practising fine and gross motor skills; language development and recall; shapes, numbers and letters (Harry was trying to write them in the rice!) alongside emotional awareness (Superworm was happy when he found his friends, etc).

My biggest two top tips? 1) keep it simple and 2) use plant pot trays from your local garden centre as smaller tuff trays - perfect for smaller plays!

Tilly’s Pegs have had a wonderfully magical Christmas break and this evening we open up our Etsy shop in time of our 1st birthday in February!
