Sarah Chiswell Interiors

Sarah Chiswell Interiors Sarah Chiswell Interiors is a friendly boutique Interior Design studio with a timeless vibe. To create a home with soul.

At Sarah Chiswell Interiors, I believe that your home should be a reflection of your unique personality and style. My focus is on creating interior designs that are tailored to my clients' individual needs, tastes, and lifestyles. I work closely with my clients to understand their vision and bring it to life in a way that exceeds their expectations. As someone who loves the outdoors, entertaining,

and cooking with the family, I understand the importance of creating spaces that are not only beautiful but also functional. That's why I offer our signature service, which specialises in kitchen and living design with a sustainable element. I believe that great design doesn't have to come at the expense of the environment, and I strive to incorporate eco-friendly elements wherever possible. One of my favourite parts of the design process is finding those unique, one-of-a-kind pieces that add soul to a space. I believe that incorporating vintage and antique pieces into a modern design can create a sense of history and depth that truly sets a space apart. Let's work together to create a space that feels like a home.

I’d love to say I’m coming home well rested… but that feeling disappeared somewhere around the early morning flight and leaving my purse on the plane! 🤪

I’ve not only brought back a stinking cold, but also a head full of inspo from . Really excited to weave a little architectural influence into my future designs though, once I’ve had a lemsip and done the washing! Anyone else hate that bit?! 🙄

This bathroom has been one I’ve gone back and forth on more than most. That’s why these rendered images are so important.

The materials feel like a given—soft woods, warm stone, brushed brass… all the things I naturally gravitate towards. It’s the layout that’s been playing on my mind.

I’ve always imagined this as an enclosed shower moment, something that feels a little more considered and intentional. But then there’s the question of light and extraction… and whether closing it in takes away from that soft, open feeling.

So now it’s about exploring the options—do we introduce an arched window to the side to bring that borrowed light back in, or embrace the enveloping shower enclosure and place the niche on the outside for useful visible storage.

I’m curious… what do you think?

Out of the office for some well-deserved rest, my friends. Back on Monday 1st June and ready for more interior fun!

Wowsers… what a weekend that was 😅! How was yours?

Honestly, best laid plans and all that. As a single mum trying to juggle work, kids, friends, family, a social life and generally whizzing around attempting to be everything to everyone… sometimes it just doesn’t quite work out.

Saturday didn’t exactly go to plan and I sadly missed the talk by , thanks to child-related demands. But Sunday completely made up for it as we spent the day supporting a friend running the in aid of .music, such an amazing cause supporting children and their mental health.

And honestly, it was such a reminder that we all need to keep our own minds in check too. So many people are quietly carrying a lot, and sometimes we all need to stop for a while and remind ourselves that life doesn’t have to look perfect all the time. I am definitely guilty of that.

Sometimes “good enough” is enough….It would be fair to say that the wine on Sunday went down a treat. 🍷

From night… to day.

It’s not always about how a room looks but how it feels. I always see rooms in the daylight on the grid, clean and calm. But it’s in the evening that a space really comes alive.

This bedroom, with its Japanese soaking tub from , shifts completely as the light fades. Soft rugs, from .home, under your tootsies, Thottam plug in wall lights from , a wooden log stool from (that is one heavy trunk!) and relaxed Roman blinds in light gray fabric made by . The room is layered, tactile, and sooo inviting. It’s less about aesthetics and more about how it feels..I think I need a lie down!

A few moments from April… a month full on both personally and in business. When it feels like you haven’t achieved much, take a look back and reflect. I find these monthly dumps (if you catch my drift) rather cathartic.
Recognise what has been done, rather than what’s still on the list, cos that list ain’t going anywhere. April included…

- Secondary glazing supplied and installed by .uk in our listed heritage home
- Beautiful, relaxed Roman blinds from fitted in our Totnes house
- Sourcing palettes and samples and designing for a client’s bathroom in a stunning Victorian terrace
- And even squeezing in a little holiday.

April, wrapped. Follow along if you fancy more moments in May.

We’ve all done it…. by not having a plan, mistakes happen. Layouts are so important.  These are something my clients always find incredibly useful.

Whether they’re managing parts of the project themselves or just want to feel confident in the decisions I’m making, having a clear layout brings everything to life. It helps them visualise how the space will function day-to-day, not just how it will look.

Of course, things will inevitably evolve through client consultation, that’s part of the process, but having this as a foundation means those decisions are informed, considered, and far less overwhelming.

It also avoids those costly mistakes that often come from guessing… spacing issues, awkward clearances, or things simply not fitting as imagined.

Good design isn’t just about aesthetics —it’s about making sure everything works, flows, and feels right before anything is built. Follow me guys to see how this bathroom evolves.

The unseen details… together with a little touch of passementary are never accidental—they’re entirely intentional my friends. It would be so easy to install a standard floor vent or let small things slide, like a key going missing when the kids are around (used a gold glasses chain to secure the key to this k**b), but that’s not how I approach design. Every element is carefully considered, every problem resolved with real thought behind it. It’s those little touches through my projects that make a home a home - clients travel souvenirs, vintage finds, beaded tassel on a cupboard, books from or a hat box from . Consistency, repetition and talking points throughout the home creates a natural flow and makes everything feel effortless.

It’s the Journey. It’s never just the “after” although I’m not gonna lie, it does always look nicer on the grid. 😄 Swipe to see the steady progress and some tips along the way.

It’s everything in between — the moment where I tell my clients to brace yourself as it’s gonna get a lot worse before it gets better, the messy middle, the unseen details, the moments where it starts to come together without you quite realising.

And then one day, what started as something mismatched and unintentional is now a calm, considered room that feels like it’s always been there. Please follow for more.
