Here we are in Plymouth. Do pop in if you’re in the area!

On pages 22 and 23 of the Tamar Valley Open Studios brochure, we have four artists, Georgie Bruce in Rame Head, Neil Mawdsley, Paul Kemp and Clare Rogers, all in Plymouth. Depending on where you start your journey, it will be well worth crossing the Tamar to make sure you see all of these artists at work in their studios. Neil and Paul are sharing a studio, and Clare Rogers is sharing her studio with Anne Blackwell-Fox who will feature in the next post, along with more artists in Plymouth.

My studio in a Plymouth is open to the public all this week until Sunday 6th September.

I’m sharing my space with my friend and talented painter, Anne Blackwell-Fox.

We have printmaking, painting, drawing, hand made books and cards on display, plus I will give demonstrations in my printing press. So there’s lots to see and enjoy!

Entrance is free.

Drawn to the Valley Dartmoor Collective

My latest monotype print with ink drawing.

The monotype print is made by putting thin layers of oil based printing ink onto a sheet of acetate. I lay a piece of beautiful Japanese paper over the inked acetate, then pull it through my printing press.

Once the ink is dry, I use a fine ink pen to draw the trees.

These trees are taken from a photograph I took at Burrator on Dartmoor. The colours of the background are imagined, creating a blend of myth and realism and a focus towards the value of woodland.
