I’m Kylie and I’m the person behind Rusty Nail. I live in Devon just a stones throw away from the sea and the moors. I enjoy making ‘things’ and like making eco friendly products where I can. I have never really settled on just one medium and I like to mix and match and change and evolve as time and moods take me to different places. My style is very much shabby chic and I like some of my makes to be quite raw and earthy so that they are not all polished and perfect, in fact they are perfectly imperfect.

This recipe book probably as old as me…I nabbed it from my childhood home when I was setting up my own when I was 20.
The pictures are great for inspiring you to not use it! There are some odd colour effects being used and the food is definitely of the era and very beige.
However the lemon meringue pie is probably one of the first actual dessert type thing I ever made for my husband.
Usually the recipe book is hidden in the back of one of the cupboards until my husband mentions that I haven’t cooked it for him in a while.
Now being a very 70’s book the opening paragraph before the recipe states that if you want to keep your husband happy, make him a lemon meringue pie occasionally!
My husband doesn’t however think that once every 5-6 years is what it means 🤣
It is an amazing recipe but its just so bitty to make and soooo many dishes at the end 🙄🤣

There were a lot of webs to be seen on my morning walk thanks to the cold and misty start.
Some were so precise and methodically made by the spider, they read the instruction manual and set about making in a calm and precise manner, taking their time and looking for near perfection. Then you had the webs that had been made by the spider that had too much caffeine, was running late and forgot where they put the instructions!
The latter is rather like my crafting. I haven’t got a clue what I’m doing, I’m just winging it 🤣

Big bag of beads just delivered.
Just need a clean before I give them a new lease of life on my mobiles. More interesting than buying new beads as I have no idea of what I’ve got!

Here are the elephants all finished and ready to march off to their new homes.
3 mobiles all added to my Etsy store today.
Each elephant is different, each one individually hand cut and designed. Beads from old costume jewellery have been added making each mobile unique.

So back at the end of March I posted about the shocking price of clay silver increasing. I just had a sales email through from the company that I buy it from. The new price is £47.95 😱That’s an increase of 11.5% in three months.
Crazy!

The finished bugs…well almost. I’ve just got to have a play about with the plant stalks and then they’ll be ready to crawl off to their new homes, hopefully.
I’m really pleased with how they have turned out. Some more than others of course.
Anyone have a favourite?

The beetle bugs are still evolving. Today I gave them wings and legs. Time to sort out the doggos tea so, for now, they’ll have to wait for their post firing cleanup.
