Peggy Clarkson, I think you are my favourite.
I can’t even explain how much I love this female character. Her bravery. Her personality. Her stubbornness. Her softness. Just her.
Always seen as the baby of the family, the one who is immature or just a “pretty face”. Peggy showed up and proved everyone wrong, including herself. And that was the most important part of this story for me, because haven’t we all felt like we deserved the worst people could offer us? I know I have, so this resonated with me hard. Like a punch to the gut actually.
Elliott’s self discovery also deserves a shout out, because that man knows exactly what he needs to do to keep the woman he loves around, and nobody is going to stop him.
Alice, I want more of you. I find myself wanting to see how she navigates grief, found family and rediscovering who her dad really is. The connection they end up having, albeit not perfect, is fought for, and what more could you want than that?
The Clarksons. The way this story, of a family finding each other, after grief and falling apart, continues to warm my heart. And the more we got to see if Sage and Bel? I’m so ready for the next book. Give it to me now.
Although, I’m definitely going to miss Peggy, Elliott and Alice. Jess, however, could never reappear again and it would be too soon.

“Men complimented her on a regular basis about everything under the sun, but coach calling her tough was like getting a pink Rolls-Royce for Christmas.”
•
“I asee you. You make positive differences every day, you just don’t let yourself have them.”
•
“I think you’ve been the one rescuing me for months. No one can look me in the eye since it happened. Just you.”
•
“Looking at you makes me want to forget everything else and never stop. Every time I’m with you, I come closer to giving in. Setting aside my responsibilities so I can spend more time looking and listening to each and every damn word out of your mouth. Every time.”
•
“You’re a god damn wonder.”
