Todays adventure in has been brought to you by .
Buses in are completely free during any Sunday throughout March (capped £2 single fares every other day of the week).
I find zoning out on the bus/train uniquely relaxing, the perfect time to whip out a wip.

"Work in Progress"

A Dragon Wings Shawl in a silk merino blend. Colours "gold and poison purple" as requested.
It's a really nice patten, very satisfying to see it work up. I'm contemplating adding a few purple crystal beads to each point but would like to see how it blocks out first.

Pattern by Lisa Benden available on Ravelry.
Yarn by myself at Rogue Yarns.

"Made in 2022"

While thinking of which make to post for this prompt I realised that 2022 was the Year of the Great Unfinished.

Even more than usual there were a lot of accidentally abandoned projects and half executed plans last year.
I considered posting my new favorite, extra snuggly jumper, the cute little tam, or an especially lovely handspun skein but this lonely mini-mitt seems to best represent a particularly flakey year. Got to appreciate that this mitt was originally intended to be worn while knitting out in the cold.

The fingers on my one chilly, unmittened hand remain crossed for a more productive 2023.
May the rest of your year be exactly as productive, or unproductive as you'd like.

"Project 2023"
The Geek-a-long.

Lattes and Llamas ran an annual geek-a-long for I think 7 years(?). The amount of work they poured into those wonderful events, and the amount raised from their patterns for Childs Play charity is nothing short of phenomenal. The patterns are free but if you're able then please do donate to the charity via the Geek-a-long home page.

I started knitting these double knit squares a few years ago before getting sidetracked. I'd conquered double knit and found myself leaning into lace, then stranded, then garment construction....

Now it's chilly and I'm sad that I don't have a geek blanket to hibernate under so I'm picking up the project again this year, I intend for it to be my low-stress background project.
I'm sure it won't be finished by December but it would be nice to see it grow much, much bigger.

And now you should go and check out the many, many incredible patterns by .
Seriously, go and look

"Hello, it's me"

I've been absent from social media for quite a while, so will be using the Fiberuary Challenge to get reacquainted with you lovely fibre folks, but I'm still me and starting late is woven into my existence.
I'm Jen. I'm a UK based dyer and spinner, a crocheter and knitter, and general ADHD crafter. More on that later into the month.
I'm also parent and home educator to an excellent, slightly weird 7 (almost 8 😱) year old.
I get around mostly by bike which sparked an interest in urban development, particularly in the ways infrastructure can make or destroy communities. I'm fascinated by what creates stronger, safer, cleaner, and fairer communities in general.

I love audiobooks and while not usually a fan of the vampire genre, Nancy Warrens 'The Vampire Knitting Club' series is what currently has my attention. It's a great set of cheesy murder mysteries and I'm loving every minute.

Star Trek and Doctor Who are my main fandoms, I'm pretty much always circling through a binge watch of one of them. Friends is my secret shame, I have it on like a radio because its oddly soothing.

I play games on occasion (computer and board) but never seem to forge enough time to play. Except that I've very intentionally just spent the entire weekend on Don't Starve. I died often and in numerous embarrassing ways, the standard Don't Starve experience.

And that's a whole lot of "I" for one post so that'll do for now. It's nice to re-meet you all. Go ahead and say hi, tell us about yourself too 🙂

Rare image of me being hugged by a cuddly handmade ensemble.

You can never wear too many knits, especially if you mash up your lace and your chunkies. This level of cosy justifies a selfie.

TdeF '22 begins.
This is where the most unexpected of worlds collide.
Where yarn nerds and bike lovers make sweet music with all the wheels.
Spin my pretties.
Turn those wheels until you can treadle pedal no more.
Don't hurt yourselves though (that goes for the cyclists too).

One day I'll learn life's greatest and hardest lesson.
I'll learn to knit a swatch.
That day is not today.
Back to the start we go.
Still not swatching

A spot of knitting in one of our favorite hangouts, can we just take a moment appreciate how nicely the decor coordinates with this project?
Some like matching bags, some like matching shoes. Me personally, I prefer a matching gaming cafe for those finishing touches.
