Today me and 'squirrel' as she has been affectionatly called attended our third networking meeting of the week. Taking her out is way beyond my comfort zone ans over the years ive been cuatomed to believe that i am wierd and what i do shouldnt be accpeted.
Reborn dolls arnt for everyone, they never will be ...... BUT they are for a lot of people. Ive mostly found that my art is accepted for what it is, but have ben thinking more on the concept of what they do for others.
So i thought i would share a bit about that some have them as piece's of art to display in their home exactly as they would hang a canvas on the wall. Others have them as a work of art they can pick up and cuddle every once in a while, change their outfits with the season and just have some calm time. Others use them for anxiety or mental health releif, when we hold or cuddle something our brains release oxytocin, dopamine, and serotonin, this in turn ground you makes you feel relaxed and comfoeted. In turn there are many who qant to feel those things from a baby but dor whatever reason are unable to have their own real one. They are used in film or on stage when a real baby isnt suitable. They are uses by therapists, probably to release those same hormones. They are used in dementia care, oftem dementia patients go back to signifficant times in their lives and find comfort in having a baby to look after, a reborn doll is safe for them to care for alone, when they provide the care their mind tells them they need they also have a release of those same hormones, they gain a purpose and a focus, in turn some people do use them as if they are a real baby, but i should imagine thats only because they enjoy all those feeling we have talked about.
As i say not for everyone but some food for thought......
If you or someone you know owns a reborn doll whats the reason ? ❤️
