Japan fabric haul: part two!! 🧵🎀🇯🇵

These are all from exploring Nippori (Fabric Town), which is SO easy to get to (it’s a stop on the Yamanote Line, iykyk 👀) and absolutely packed with amazing fabric shops. If you’re a sewist visiting Tokyo, you NEED to add this to your itinerary!

By this point we’d already done 25,000 steps and my ankles were approximately two minutes away from filing for divorce, as was my husband 😂 so I made some more snap decisions!

I could have spent a whole day just in this one area of Tokyo, the shops were all full of the lost amazing fabric and trims! The prints, the colours, the possibilities!! 🥹

Japan fabric haul: part one!! 🧵🎀🇯🇵

We visited Okadaya in Shinjuku and explored the fabric shops in Nippori, and obviously I couldn’t come away empty-handed. 😂 So much gorgeous fabric and so many cute little bits that I’m already dreaming up projects for!

But can we PLEASE talk about these bakery patches?! 🥹🍞 How cute are they?! I’m particularly obsessed with the little egg on toast, and I still can’t believe I managed to find a matching gashapon too. The universe really said this one was meant to be. 🍳✨

A sewist in Japan is truly a dangerous thing. My stash is growing, my suitcase was struggling, and this is only part one… 👀💗

Japan fabric shopping: a romantic little activity for me and an endurance sport for my husband 😂🧵🇯🇵

It felt liked we had walked ONE MILLION steps 😂 but I explored the most wonderful fabric shops, and I got to spend an unreasonable amount of time admiring all the gorgeous prints. Meanwhile, my husband deserves some kind of medal for patiently following me around while I repeatedly said “OHHH, LOOK AT THIS ONE!” 🎀 that is until he found a lovely bench... 😂

The problem with being a sewist on Holiday is that every fabric shop feels like a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity… and suddenly your suitcase looks very small. 🥹

Still, it was worth every single step. Sorry, 😂❤️

South Korea day trip: Busan edition 🇰🇷✨

Spent the day mastering the Metro, visiting the beach, unnecessarily hiking up a hill (because apparently we can’t just have a relaxing holiday 😂), buying an unreasonable number of face masks… and SAW A REAL LIFE, IN THE WILD, ACTUAL SHARK. 🦈😭

Honestly, the shark deserves its own post because WHAT DO YOU MEAN I JUST SAW A SHARK?! A lot of you don't know me well enough to know that I am obsessed with sharks, I know a horrific amount of shark facts and this absolutely made my day!

Busan, you were a little bit chaotic and a whole lot wonderful. ❤️

(the shark is a wild little lady, but she's decided the inlets of Busan are a tidy little home for her. Apparently authorities have tried to get her leave multiple times, but she refuses. Busan has named her Bukang-i and she is an honorary ambassador) 😂

Wombling around Tsuruga in the rain today was such a wonderful experience. The kehi-jingu shrine was like something out of a Ghibli film, and we got 10 minutes of blistering sun on the beach at Matsubara beach.

Along with some bird watching, performances, and answering some very brave school children's survey questions, it was a pretty miserable but mystical day!

I did get the opportunity to talk about the Wombles with a few lovely women who complimented my dress, nothing like a bit of diplomacy and sharing some proper British culture while you're away 😂😂

Sent my husband on a very important side quest while we were on a day trip in Japan… 🫡🎀

I was on the hunt for a rare little gachapon gem, and unfortunately for my husband, this required his deployment 😂

Japan is full of the cutest little treasures, and sometimes you just have to recruit your other half to help you find them. The things we do for our collections! 💗🇯🇵

He managed to get me Polly's Town House & Polly's Apartment - do I try and get the full set?!

Japan day 5: a me-made outfit in a little mountain fairytale 🎀🏡🇯🇵

Spent the day wandering around the most beautiful UNESCO village, with tiny streams, thatched-roof houses and mountains all around us. It honestly felt like stepping into another world. 🥹🌿

Still not over getting to explore Japan in little outfits I made myself. The handmade holiday wardrobe is having its main character moment. ✨🧵

Japan is an absolute shopping paradise, and there’s SO much I want to bring home. But I’m trying my best to be mindful and only buy things I know I’ll treasure for years to come.

As a Polly Pocket collector, these little finds felt extra special. Sometimes the best things are the ones you stumble across when you least expect them. 💕🇯🇵

GUYS, THE JET LAG 😭😭 today has been super comfy and relaxed and I've found some super cute places to hide and read.

I've managed to start and finish The Knave and The Moon, it might be the Gin, but I'm currently an emotional mess!

I'm also picking my way through manacled, when I'm up for a bit more emotional torment 😂

We're in Akita tomorrow, so excited to explore somewhere new!
