So first off today I’m sending out a great big THANK YOU to everyone who came to the shop yesterday whether that was attending the workshop or shopping in the shop…we were there with my two little people in tow unexpectedly.

Both children were little superstars, especially when it’s really not fun for them after the novelty of being at work with mummy & grandma wears off. Thank you for being patient with them, talking to them, and enjoying them ❤️ I really do appreciate you making what was a challenging few hours into something a little easier.

Anyway, Izzy was keen to help out so she helped me to put together some more of these fat quarter rolls after we’d sold out of them. First photo - there’s 2 metres of fabric in each roll (8 fat quarters) and they’re £31.05 each. If you’d like one let me know and I’ll be sure to save one for you.

Izzy was busy counting the panels and discovered we’ve got just 5 left…the same as her age! So if you’d like one of these panels be sure to let me know so I can save one for you, each one features 8 different squares approx 10”x10”.

Well WOWSER 🤩 - thank you all for your responses on my last post on Saturday. To be honest I was quite surprised (in a very good way) at how many of you are interested in my future workshop plans! 🥰 very much feeling the love! Anyway - dates will follow when I’ve got childcare sorted…. I’m very excited about bringing something a bit different to the classroom for a change! So thank you all 🫶🏻

Moving on to today’s post…

Bargain box post today…a little later than usual in the month since I didn’t have time to put it together when we got back from our holibobs. So it works just the same as usual…

I’ll add comments to each picture which will number & describe each fabric (from top to bottom) with sizes and prices of each individual piece.

If there’s anything you’d like to order simply comment on the photo with the number of the fabric you’d like to purchase. As always, choose 3 or more fabrics and you’ll get an extra 10% off all the fabrics you order.

Orders can be collected from the shop at your convenience or I can post out to you if that’s easier. Simply drop me a comment or message and I’ll sort it all out for you.

🌟COMING SOON🌟

So today I’m just putting the feelers out there to get some feedback from you lovely lot. As some of you will be aware for the last (I’m not sure how many years) maybe 7 🤷🏼‍♀️ the show quilts I’ve made have heavily featured hand sewing, mainly lots of hand embroidery work. The last three have been rust dyed then embroidered.

Over the last few years a few of you have shown an interest in me hosting some workshops to share my work with you. So basically I’m looking at holding some ‘slow stitch’ workshops this autumn, where we can all just sit, chat and sew wherever the needle takes us.

To do this I’ll need to prepare fabrics for you all and I’m planning to put together some little kits for the workshops. It’s only going to be something small to work on, with the end result being a sample, so we’re not working towards making anything huge. Just simply learning some bits and bobs and rekindling the love of hand sewing.

How many of you know that my degree is in Embroidery?! If you asked me to choose one of my all time favourite crafts it would be like asking which of my children is my favourite…all I know is is I started this journey in handicrafts at 3 making a hand stitched Christmas decoration and here I am over 30 years later still loving every stitch I make 🥰

So all I want to know is who’d be interested in a day of ‘slow stitching’ with me this autumn. Date/a for the workshop/s will follow at some point but if you register your interest now I’ll be sure to let you know before I publish any dates.

And just for some little bits of joy, here’s some close up images of my first rust dyed quilt. Dyed with some precious things - you’ll get to hear all about it in the workshops 🥰

We’ve got just one of these panels left… the panel contains 40 small squares. If you check out the second photo Momma G made this cute Christmas quilt with it.

If you’d like to give this lonely last panel a home then it’s just £9 for the panel…if you’re feeling adventurous and you’d like the make the quilt that Momma G made as an example of what you can do with the panel then we’ve got you covered. There’s a free handout sheet with all the measurements you’ll need and we also have the coordinating fabrics that she used.

To make the quilt the same as our sample you’ll need a pack which includes:
🌟 1 Panel
🌟 Red snowflake
🌟 White star
🌟 Green spot
🌟 Candy stripe (binding)
The pack is £40, all you need to add is a backing and wadding…

Whether you’d like just the panel or the whole pack just let me know and I’ll be sure to pop it to one side for you!

And just in case you’re wondering the size of the finished quilt measures 42”x42” approx.

Some last in dye lots to share with you today…hoping to get some new dye lots out on the shelves. I’ve listed the yarns, total weights and prices with 10% off…so here goes:

Today it’s knit and natter at QQHQ I’m sure those of you who are coming to join in the fun today will have a great morning/afternoon (depending which one you come to) knitting and nattering with a brew & some delicious cake!

Would you believe yesterday when I was busy doing my thing in the shop two orders turned up….a box of fabric that’s been on order for yonks and a whole selection of new colours for our shelves in the gorgeous Bamboo + Cotton from Stylecraft Yarns…Momma G sneakily placed an order when I was on holiday!! Now I need to find somewhere to put them 🙄 she’s good at finding me jobs when I’ve got plenty of other things to be getting on with!! 😂

If you’re coming today there’s a whole host of gorgeous yarns on our shelves, I’m sure there’s plenty to tempt….whether you need it or not!!

As some of you will know we got back from our family holiday on Friday night, and I was back to the real world with a bang…back to work on Saturday morning so that I could be in the shop whilst Mum was teaching upstairs.

I say back to work with a bang simply because Momma G had cooked up some ideas whilst I was away hinting of a few ‘little jobs’ for me. 🙄 Now I know I can’t really complain it’s usually the other way round… so I reorganised all our slatwall display’s that’s on heck of a lots of haberdashery, cross stitches, threads, tools and more to make way for a fabulous new display…..😱.

Many of you don’t even realise we sell books, and we’ve got a huge bookcase full, it’s just they get missed because you can only see the spines instead of all the pretty front covers. And to prove that point as I was doing it someone even said to me “oooh new books”!

I’ve grouped together:

🌟 Sewing: embroidery, hand sewing, patchwork & quilting etc.

🌟 Crochet: basics, garments, amigurumi & homeware etc.

🌟 Knitting: basics, garments, blankets, toys etc.

There’s still a whole selection of books that haven’t made it onto these shelves yet because we’ve got so many of them!! So next time you’re in, pop round to the crochet/knitting pattern files, pull out the chair and sit and browse the books and patterns at your leisure. You could spend the whole day looking if you really wanted - I reckon there’s enough for you to browse for a week at least…..!!

Enjoy looking - even I forgot how lovely some of them are. I might even need some of them myself 🫣 that’s the only trouble with rearranging stuff!!

Sunday - Closed

We’re back from the most wonderful holiday…so good that Harry sobbed as we left - he was having too much fun and didn’t want to come home… (and also very tired)! Beautiful beaches, boat trips, bike rides and picnics watching combines hard at work - I think there’s little extra we could have done to make his summer holiday any better!!

Meanwhile Izzy’s just happy to be off school, to have the chance to just play, and spend time with all 4 of us together - she thinks we should get summer holidays from work 😂 I’m with her on that one! Maybe we should close for 6 weeks…Would you cope?? Hehe!
She’s also looking forward to going back too, she’s definitely eager to learn, and clearly happy. I just wish time would slow down a touch 🫶🏻

These moments are precious, and our family summer holiday was certainly one jam packed with fun and adventures in the glorious Norfolk sunshine 🌞 memories to cherish forever!

Now you know why my crochet slowed down - one tired Mummy at the end of each day 😂

It’s the first of August today so I can officially say that next month we’ll be hosting some workshops for Project Jelly Roll 2026! 🌀

If you’ve got one in your cupboard and you don’t know what to do with it, or you’ve always wanted to make something with one or you just want to come to a workshop and spend the day with me (Emma) then maybe this is the workshop for you??😂

This year we’ve stepped away from the usual and instead I’ve put together a different quilt using simple blocks to achieve an effective result! There’s going to be several options for you to put yours together differently to mine - and you know how I love to encourage you to make your work unique.

I’ve made one good sized quilt and FOUR cushions using the leftovers that you might usually put in the bin! You don’t have to make the cushions if you don’t want, but you know I like to try and use up everything and this time I’ve nailed it! (Even if I do say so myself)! Even the backs of the cushions use up the leftovers from my quilt back!

Workshops:

Saturday 19th September 10am-3pm

Thursday 24th September 10am-3pm

If you’d like to book onto either date then simply get in touch, a £15 deposit is required at the time of booking. The remaining £15 will be paid on the day of the workshop. Materials not included but I would recommend coming to see me before to workshop to discuss your fabric choices. And if you’d like to do some prep before the workshop I’ve got a little list for you to get cracking with too.

If you can’t make either of those dates but would love to come then let me know you’re interested and I might put another date together - if there’s enough interest!
