It’s that time of year again where lots of people have started crafting for autumn, Halloween and Christmas. My favourite time of year! The nights are drawing in…which incidentally whenever anyone says that to me I’m reminded of my Grandad, it was his favourite saying and came out literally the day after the longest day of the year 😂 I’d inwardly eye roll and chuckle whenever he said it!

But for me, I love nothing more than sitting by the fire sewing/crocheting/knitting in an evening and this time of year you’ll rarely see me in an evening without one of those projects on the go!

This week felt has been making it’s usual autumn comeback 😂 as lots of you are busy crafting decorations and all sorts so today’s post is just a reminder that we do indeed have felt. In pieces or on the roll, and theres around 50 different colours to choose from so hopefully we’ve got you covered!

Everyone who’s attending the workshop with me tomorrow will be happily playing with felt and fabric…well that’s the plan at least anyway!

Momma G has just whipped up this cute ABC quilt using the panel, but adding some extra fabric to jolly it up 😃

Since we come from a farming background we always love it when we find farm themed prints. When I grew up we had dairy cows and a few chickens so this really reminds me of my childhood 🐄 🐓 by adding the fabric squares it’s made the panel a better shape for a quilt….not quite as long and thin!

You could cut the panel up just like mum has and add any fabrics you like. You don’t have to stick to the farm theme like we have, but If you’d like to make it just like hers then we’ve got all the fabrics to make it the same way.

Panels are £9.80 - if you’d like one saving let me know and I’ll be sure to do that for you.

A conversation starter to share with you today….!

As most of you will know we have an extensive collection of Christmas fabrics, and lots of fabrics with metallic detail…. Personally I love the fabrics with this details added, but I do appreciate it’s not for everyone, it can be a marmite thing.

Our most recent delivery of ‘metallic blenders’ are in. A couple of them quite Christmassy and the others less so. Except this time there’s one big difference….they’re not actually metallic! They’ve been cleverly printed to look like it, and on our shelves you’d probably never notice!

So what do you think? Would you prefer the finish to these without the actual metallic?

Needless to say, they’re cleverly designed and printed, and a welcome addition to our collections. You’ll have to check them out when you’re next in- see if you can spot them!

❄️£30 which is split - £15 deposit to reserve your place, remaining £15 paid on the day of the workshop.

A reminder that I’m running another workshop in a couple of weeks to make these table centrepieces, and there’s a couple of spaces left, this one I’ve made completely by hand except from attaching the binding…so there’s no need to bring your machine. So if you fancy a workshop where we simply put one of these together and hand sew in a relaxed friendly environment all day then get in touch to book your place.

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed putting these together - the starting point is the pictorial fabric but you can change the rest of the material colours to your own preference if you don’t want to make them exactly like mine, there’s plenty of options from our extensive fabric and felt collection 🤣 I could have made quite a few different samples! Lots of options being picked, so I’m looking forward to seeing what you all create on the day. As yet nobody will be making one just like mine - I love it when you all experiment 🙌🏻

It is possible to make them on the machine. If you’d rather make one on the machine then you can still do that too - you’ll just need to bring your machine to the workshop with you.

Thursday - bonus post

I’ve just been cutting some extra wide backing for a customer and come across not one but two breaks in the fabric 🙄 neither of them big enough for her quilt. So before I wind them back on (hugely annoying) I wondered if anyone needs any extra wid in a white on cream?? It’s a pretty print!!

First piece is 1.6m ( 62” x 108”) £38.40

Second piece is 2m ( 78” x 108”) £48

Over the last few years a few of you have shown an interest in me hosting some workshops to share some of my more personal quilts and techniques with you. When I recently shared a post to ask who’d be interested I was quite overwhelmed by the feedback 🥰 so as a result I’m going to be holding some ‘slow stitch’ workshops where we can all just sit, chat and sew wherever the needle takes us.

I know that this has been high on the list for a few of you, it takes time to dye the fabrics that I’ll be putting together into kits for you along with other things. And all the best things take time!! We’re not working towards making anything huge, just a couple of small samples…but enough to learn some bits and bobs and rekindle the love of hand sewing.

If you’d like to attend either of the workshop dates or you’d like some more information then simply get in touch and I’ll happily send over more information. There was a huge list of enquiries when I initially dropped this here, so if you do miss this time or you aren’t available for the dates above, then don’t worry there will probably be more dates…at some point!

Did you know that my degree is in Embroidery?! If you asked me to choose one of my all time favourite crafts it would be like asking which of my children is my favourite…all I know is is I started this journey in handicrafts at 3 making a hand stitched Christmas decoration and here I am over 30 years later still loving every stitch I make 🥰

I didn’t get anything done yesterday, after the weekend I haven’t caught up on sleep and I just felt like I was floating around on a cloud somewhere not really in the room. But thank you all for the lovely well wishes for Izzy ❤️ Maybe today will be better 🤞🏼

Someone mentioned snowmen yesterday….👀so I couldn’t resist sharing one of my all time favourite panels today. 😂 Sorry Gina (not sorry)! It’s absolutely beautiful 😍 and I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again…we can’t be friends if you don’t like it 😂 so be careful what you say!!

I absolutely love Hannah Dale’s Wrendale Designs and these fabrics and panel absolutely do not disappoint.

If you’d like a panel it’s £12.50, we’ve got just 4 panels left, fat quarters of the coordinating fabrics are £4, plus we’ve got some more Wrendale fabrics including a fabric covered in the jolly robins (and you definitely need a piece of that 😂) ❤️

Monday - closed (as always)

A few of you asked if Mark & I had made any gifts for our anniversary this year….we didn’t but we both bought gifts to make together.

This weekend we made something, this is one of the kits that Mark bought for me, that we decided to do together with the children. We each made one of these mosaic coasters….can you guess who made which one?

This weekend we had our first ever visit from the tooth fairy, she had a busy weekend as she had to come back the following night for the second one! Izzy now has a huge gap at the bottom…it was definitely time, they’ve been wobbly for so long!

We also had a little visit to hospital because she was struggling to breathe in the early hours of Sunday morning, she was seen super quickly by some wonderful doctors and nurses. We were soon home armed with an inhaler and she’s improving❤️

I’ll be ready for a rest at work tomorrow after our rollercoaster of a weekend 😅
