It's one of the most common things we hear, and it's not quite right.

Modern carpet, particularly a quality twist or saxony pile, is treated with stain-resistant finishes that most hard surfaces can't match. Spills sit on the surface long enough to blot. Crumbs vacuum out. And for homes with pets, there are specific pile types engineered for exactly that.

The flooring that causes the most maintenance headaches is usually the one chosen for the look without thinking about the life it has to live. That's the conversation we have before you buy anything.

The stage of a flooring installation nobody photographs is usually the part that takes the most skill.

Clean thresholds. Precise edges around a hearth. Carpet that follows the line of a staircase without lifting at the nose. These are the details that separate a good installation from one that lasts.
