Working with Amey, TRT Lighting is supporting the expansion of Trafford’s public EV charging network with our UK-manufactured E-Via charging pillars.

But this project isn’t simply about installing ‘more’ chargers.

It’s about creating a network that can adapt as demand and operational requirements change.

E-Via’s modular design allows different charging capacities, socket configurations and payment options to be accommodated within the same robust enclosure, with the ability to upgrade or reconfigure units in the future without replacing the complete charger.

The first phase has already seen more than 30 E-Via units installed, with further deployments planned.

We’ve been shortlisted! 🏆

We’re pleased to share that TRT Lighting has been named a finalist for Sustainability Initiative of the Year at the Made in Britain Impact Awards.

Our entry focused on Engineering Circularity – our approach to embedding sustainability throughout the product lifecycle, from the way we design and manufacture our luminaires through to packaging, retrofit, operation and end-of-life recovery.

It’s great to see that approach recognised, particularly as sustainability for us isn’t about one initiative or one product. It’s about continually looking at where we can reduce waste, extend asset life, use resources more intelligently and help our customers do the same.

A big well done to the TRT team and to all the other businesses shortlisted.

A first for TRT Lighting 💕

We’re expanding our exterior lighting portfolio with the launch of Preto and Preto+, our first architectural wall luminaires.

Compact and discreet, the new range combines a contemporary graphite black finish with warm 2700K light and a choice of area and gallery distributions.

With two sizes and outputs up to 1,013lm, the range also offers:

🔸 IP65 / IK10 protection
🔸 Projected L90 after 100,000 hours
🔸 Integral daylight sensor

🚐 Another stop for the TRT demo van, this time in Bridgwater.

We recently visited VolkerHighways, giving the team the opportunity to get hands-on with two of our latest street lighting solutions: Aspect Gen2 and Optio Micro.

Joining us on the day were Doug Phillips, Senior Engineer at Somerset Council, Dan Connett, Project Manager at VolkerHighways, and colleagues from their wider teams.

The session provided an opportunity to take a closer look at both luminaires, explore their key features and discuss how they could be applied to future schemes.

Meet Rob Waters, Technical Director, and one of the longest-standing members of the TRT Lighting team.

This summer marked Rob’s 14th anniversary with TRT, and in September he’ll celebrate an impressive 19 years with the FW Thorpe Plc Group.

Born in Solihull, Rob’s childhood ambitions were varied, he was torn between becoming a chef or an archaeologist, while History and Engineering were his standout subjects at school.

Outside of work, cricket is a big part of Rob’s life. As well as following the game, he coaches the junior section at his local Cookhill Cricket Club 🏏

Australia takes the top spot for his most memorable holiday, while seafood is firmly off the menu.

And his dream dinner guests?

No celebrities required. Rob would choose his wife and two daughters, somewhere with good food, a great view and, most importantly, no iPads.

His advice to his younger self?

“This too shall pass.”

An exciting opportunity to join our growing Tunnel Lighting team.

As we continue to develop our tunnel lighting offering and support an increasing number of projects, we're looking for an Applications Engineer.

Working across both tunnel and illuminated handrail projects, this is a varied technical role covering lighting design, project drawings, site surveys, commissioning and technical support.

You'll get involved with:
🔸 Lighting design using DIALux, Relux and Relux Tunnel
🔸 AutoCAD project drawings
🔸 Lighting design reports and project proposals
🔸 Site surveys, commissioning and site acceptance testing
🔸 Technical support for customers and our sales team

Previous lighting design and AutoCAD experience would be beneficial, but we're equally interested in someone with the right technical aptitude and ambition to develop. Training and support will be provided where needed.

You'll be joining a specialist team working on some challenging and interesting infrastructure projects, with the backing of TRT Lighting and the wider FW Thorpe Plc Group.
