This wasn’t just a garage extension.
It was a design challenge that demanded creativity, engineering, and precision.

The brief?
Transform an existing oak-framed car port and secure garage into one seamless space capable of housing three classic cars with flexibility for future expansion.

The challenge?
Connecting the old structure with the new extension without compromising aesthetics or functionality.

Our solution:
✔ A distinctive “cheese roof” design linking both pitched roofs seamlessly
✔ Spacious access allowing each classic car to move independently
✔ Wide uninterrupted internal spans without intrusive columns
✔ A concealed steel frame wrapped in elegant oak cladding

The result is a purpose-built automotive space that feels cohesive, refined, and architecturally balanced combining traditional craftsmanship with modern engineering.

Projects like this prove that great design isn’t just about adding space.
It’s about solving problems beautifully.

Thinking about extending or transforming a unique structure?
Let’s explore what’s possible together.

Build your home around your life first.

Then build the space around it.

That’s the shift I’ve seen transform homes again and again.

Where does your family naturally gather?
What do you want your mornings to feel like?
How should your home support your daily routine?
Do you need space to work, relax, or entertain?
How much space do you actually need?

Design your home like it’s the most important thing you’re building.

Because it is.

Once your lifestyle is clear, then shape the layout around it.

Will you sacrifice some extra square footage?
Yes.

But here’s the truth:

You always give something up in design.

And if it’s not space, it becomes:
comfort, light, functionality, flow, or long-term value.

Don’t build a home based on what others think looks impressive.

Build a home that works for you.

If you're in Surrey or London, DM me for your home renovation.

I was working long hours, skipping sleep, and neglecting exercise.

Sitting in front of my computer all day, I felt drained, hungry all the time, and constantly snacking. My body was suffering, but I ignored the signs.

Then, a doctor’s visit changed everything. He warned me—improve my health or face serious consequences. He told me to sleep better, move more, and work less.

I didn’t listen at first. Work was my priority.
Designing for clients mattered more than my own well-being.

But my body had other plans. My back ached.
My eyes strained. No chair in the world could fix an unhealthy lifestyle.

Finally, I decided to take control. I started gymming again, waking up early, drinking more water. This time, I committed. No excuses.
6 months, no skipping.

Work is important. But so is health. Without it, success means nothing.

It took me 33 years to understand this.
I will tell you in 1 minute.

I’ve been doing home transformation for over 3 decades and this is what I’ve learnt:

1. You can’t “hack” the process. Most think there’s one shortcut to planning approvals, there isn’t. It’s more like five steps you must get right. Skip one → your project stalls.

2. Declutter your home before you build out.
Yes, even before an extension. Less clutter = more clarity on what space you actually need.

3. Bigger isn’t always better. A well-designed 20sqm loft can outperform a 40sqm extension with poor flow. Focus on function, not just floor area.

4. Block out noise. Everyone will have an opinion about your build — neighbours, relatives, even your plumber. Listen selectively.

5. Good design isn’t optional — it’s essential.
Don’t treat the layout as an afterthought. It shapes how you live every day.

6. Take breaks. Renovations are intense.
Press pause. Review. Adjust. You’re building your future, not racing a deadline.

7. Your space will evolve. The way you use your home today won’t be how you use it 5 years from now. Build flexible spaces that can grow with you.

Which one (1-7) do you vibe with the most?
And if you are waiting to renovate your home, let’s talk.

When I first walked into a property on Leytonstone Road, it didn’t feel like a place anyone would want to live.

It felt cold, empty, unlived.

It used to be a two-storey youth hostel, but time hadn’t been kind to it.

The rooms had no purpose, light barely made its way inside. Honestly, it didn’t feel like it had a future. But I didn’t see what it was, I saw what it could become: warmth, colour, a space that felt like home.

So we got to work.

We opened up the layout, brought in light, added function where there was none. And step by step, it started to change.

Today, it’s a place people are proud to call home. Because most spaces aren’t broken, they’re just waiting to be reimagined.

That’s what we do at Greenway Associates. If you are looking to renovate your property or get planning permission, DM me.

“Your project would never get Planning Permission”, they said. I laughed.

My client had a bold vision: “An entire glass roof for his home.”

But there was a problem.

9 architects rejected his idea outright. They claimed that it would never get Planning Permission.

Why?
UK regulations are stringent about CO2 emissions, carbon footprints, and energy efficiency.

Glass roofs often fail to meet the standards of both:
1) Planning Departments (design impact) and
2) Building Regulations (technical aspects).

After hearing NO nine times, he found me online.

I listened and reassured him it was possible, connected him with a trusted builder for his dream, and shared my expertise in Building Regulations compliance.

I designed a glass roof with high-quality materials featuring solar and thermal insulation. The design included a floating roof and glazed doors, balancing aesthetics with functionality.

With my approach, we met all regulatory criteria while staying true to his vision.
His dream home was finally approved and built - an elegant blend of glass and innovation.

Now, he enjoys a stunning, light-filled home, perfectly aligned with UK regulations.

Most dream homes start looking like this.
Messy, noisy, and full of uncertainty.

When we first stepped onto this site, it was far from inspiring.
Scaffolding everywhere.
Walls opened up.
Floors stripped back to the bones.

To many people, it looked like chaos.

But this stage is where transformation begins.

Step by step we:
• Reworked the structure
• Opened up the layout
• Introduced natural light and flow
• Designed a modern living space that works beautifully

The construction phase may look messy.
But every beam, every wall, every decision moves the project closer to something remarkable.

Today, what once looked like a building site is becoming a stunning home — designed for comfort, space, and modern living.

Because great homes aren’t found.
They’re created.

If you’re looking at your property and wondering what it could become, let’s explore the possibilities together.

P.S.
Which stage fascinates you most — the messy transformation or the final reveal?

You’re looking at bricks and dust right now… but this is about to become something special.
And most people would walk past this and see “just demolition.”

We’re on site in Surrey.
Brand new project.
Wraparound extension just kicked off.

The garage? Gone.
Foundations? In.
Cavity walls starting to rise from the ground, wrapping from the side to the rear.

And this is only the beginning.

We’re demolishing most of the existing rear.
Opening it up.
Going bigger.
Double-storey extension to the side.
Full rear extension across the back.
Another rear extension to the single-storey section.

More space.
More light.
More flow.
Completely reimagined living.

Right now it looks messy.
But this stage? This is where the transformation truly begins.

Stick with us — this one’s going to be awesome.

If you’re planning a wraparound or double-storey extension and want it done right from day one,
DM us or call us — let’s build something incredible.
