At Sribblegroup this week at , Redruth, we had a play learning Monotype printing.
We covered an acrylic sheet with black paint using a roller. Then we used a embossing tool to "draw" on a piece of paper (you couldn't see what you had drawn). This created an impression or a print of the picture. You can’t really see the end result until you lift the paper off. It was great fun. I decided to have a go at drawing some of my favourite scenes. First I had to reverse my photo otherwise Godrevy lighthouse would have been on the opposite side. Then I did in initial quick sketch (in reverse), using this sketch as a template, I placed this paper on the acrylic sheet and embossed over the sketch and add more lines, texture etc. Lastly I lifted the paper and the final image is back the right way round!
I love learning new techniques with no pressure – here are some of my drawings, in case my description doesn't make sense!
