Dahlias, zinnias,scabious, clary sage, phlox. All the beauty of late summer. Order by noon on Thursday for a bunch, bouquet or jar of locally grown blooms ready to enjoy at the weekend.

Another jar of joy that headed out for last weeks Friday flowers. Built around that one beautiful, buttery dahlia. So gorgeous! Will check my notes and post her name when I get a mo’. Don’t forget Friday Flowers this week - order by noon on Thursday- surely a treat is required now the little people at at home! ✈️

I find it as exciting anticipating the next blooms as enjoying the ones in flower. Next will be the late summer zinnias, cosmos and China asters. And, of course, the dahlias.

At this time of year when the plants are growing quickly and the weather is somewhat unpredictable, it can be really helpful to get some plant support in place early doors. To be honest, this is the first year I have been ahead of the curve instead of either trying to retrofit netting to fully grown plants or berating myself for not getting around to it!Pictures show 3 types of supports - netting attached horizontally to hoops, cylinders made out of pig fencing and string between fencing stakes. The first can be used for most flowers and you can use two layers of netting 30cm apart for taller plants. The second two are both for dahlias. The cylinders have worked really well in the past but you have to find somewhere to store them when not in use. So I am hoping the string will do the trick. 🤞🏻

Flowers for a local event - at the venue and in the studio. About 90% of the flowers were from the walled garden and we had a lovely afternoon creating all of the floral loveliness. A relaxed, fresh from the garden vibe. Thanks to our lovely customer and, as always, to without whom this wouldn’t be nearly as much fun! The leftovers from this week’s Friday Flowers. I rarely get around to bringing any flowers into the house. But these were too pretty to leave in a bucket. Have a lovely, sunny weekend xx

Finally got some art framed. Thanks to All by talented friends and Now just got to get them on the walls!

The coffin topper was on an entirely compostable base. Bamboo canes, bamboo plates, twigs, moss, jute string and a compostable bin bag to keep the moisture in. It all worked well. Thanks to Mr B for lashing the bamboo canes together. It’s always good to get an engineer involved. It was sturdy.

Bright, British garden flowers to celebrate the life of a colourful local lady who loved her garden. It was a huge responsibility but we enjoyed creating displays which we thought she would have liked. Couldn’t have done it without as always.

It’s been a bumper order week for Friday Flowers. And I’ve spent this morning doing a bride’s bouquet and a button hole for a small wedding tomorrow. This time last year I was just starting to sell flowers and Heathside Flower Garden was just getting going. Thank you so much to all my customers, old and new, and to all my other supporters and cheerleaders. I have loved meeting all of you - both virtually and in person. I have a feeling this will be a fabulous, flowery year!

The garden is beginning to pump out the blooms. Ranunculus and tulips and lots of other little bits and pieces. This is the first time I have managed to get a real crop of ranunculus - it took a bit of effort to nurse them through the icy weather but it has been worth it.
