THE SECRET TO CREATING AN AMAZING SMALL BATHROOM 💙

A small bathroom / shower-room (usually) requires a well-thought-out design.

Let’s break it down here:

✨ The floor layout is key! Find a layout that optimises movement and easy access throughout the space. In this shower-room, all the sanitaryware was placed on one wall to make the room feel larger.

✨ Opt for a curved shower enclosure. Showers in small bathrooms need to be enclosed due to the lack of space. A curved shower enclosure creates more floor space and eliminates sharp corners while still providing a great showering experience.

✨ Light coloured and slightly glossy tiles on the walls that will bounce light around the room.

✨ Wall-hung vanity unit with storage (keeping things tidy!) and a wall-hung toilet will free up floor space. This is especially impactful with a lovely patterned floor tile!

✨ Create extra storage for grooming products and display lovely accessories with a shower niche and counter ledge. These are a great feature in small bathrooms!

✨ Don’t forget the lighting💡  Include extra ambient and task lighting such as night lights under the toilet and vanity, an illuminated mirror or wall lights, and led spot lights in the niche.

This project was a genuine highlight for me. A large room the family had stopped using, redesigned into the space they now live in every day and love. It holds real warmth and a sense of occasion, from the pair of amber glass chandeliers to the soft layered lighting in the evening. The new steel and glass doors frame it beautifully from the kitchen, so you notice the room the moment you walk in.

The snug in my Reigate project is nearing completion.

This home is a new build, so the room did not need a major renovation. The shape was awkward, my client struggled with the layout and the space felt cold and uncomfortable.

My Curated Room Design service was the right fit here. I worked in a deep, warm palette to give the room a cocooning feel. A bespoke olive green velvet footstool sits at the centre. The extra-large rug is hand-woven in a traditional heritage design that works in this modern space. The room has become their favourite, a space they use every evening as a family.

Some things need to be seen in person.

A sourcing trip to in Guildford this week, for the final pieces on two projects installing later this month.

Rugs, cushions and soft furnishings especially. Colour and texture have to sit right against the scheme. A screen never shows them truly, so I match them by eye against the actual sample materials of the room.

A sourcing trip always turns up some special items. The best finds are the ones you happen upon in person.

The right light fixture can completely change a room. ✨

This piece made the biggest impact to this Reigate living room.

The proportions of the room were good, but harsh overhead lighting left it feeling flat and a little cold. Getting the lighting right is what brought it to life.

Lighting was planned in layers. Bronze spotlights highlight the drapery, the artwork and the sculptural pieces. Hidden coving light provide the lounge its soft evening glow. And at the centre of each zone, a pair of Amber Sorrento chandeliers from , the statement pieces everyone notices first.

Lighting is always worth investing in early. It shapes how a room feels and the welcome it gives you the moment you walk in. A quality fixture does something a budget one never quite can.

SBID Awards 2026 Finalist ✨

I'm delighted to share that Elegant Living Room, Reigate has been named a Finalist in the SBID International Design Awards 2026, in the Residential Budget Up To £50,000 category.

This project was a genuine highlight for me. An underused, disconnected room completely reimagined into a space the family now truly lives in and loves. To see it recognised among some of the most talented designers in our industry means a great deal.
