The Two Brewers Public House , High Street , Rochester. One of the best run and cleanest pubs in Rochester .
The Two Brewers , or The Two Jolly Brewers , was once a very common sign , now however , it is rarely seen. The sign represents two stalwart brewer's men carrying a barrel of beer slung between them on a pole. In this instance , the Pub probably obtained its name from the adjacent brewery , which occupied the site of Theobald Square ( long built over ). The brewery was built with timbers from Rochester Castle , which suggest re-cycling was not started by GenZ.

Who'd ha' Thought it , Public House , Baker Street , Rochester. So runs the tale, was given through its first owner and builder, hearing a remark that he would never get a license for it, and the same party afterwards remarking when he read that the license was granted '' Well , Who'd ha' Thought it '' . The landlord thought it would do as well as any other, so he adopted it.

Given it is Medway cocktail week I thought i would mention some lost Rochester Bars. The '' Silver Oar '' open in 1792 next to the Bull Hotel. Before the river dues were sold to the Medway Conservancy Board, the Mayor and Corporation had full jurisdiction and rights of the river. The Mayor ranked as Port Admiral , and the rights of river Medway were looked after by the Principal Water Bailiff , whose badge of authority was a '' Silver Oar '', which he use to carry in his pocket when acting in his official capacity.
Not sure when it closed but it was still open in 1903.

Our loved shop cat , Luna , has gone missing. Please any sightings or information would be very much appreciated
