Please come in….. as the poster says due to the chilly days we are now closing the man door into the shop but we are definitely OPEN.

During the warmer days we like to have our main doors wide open but now the heating is on the door needs to be shut to keep the warmth in.

Today we have our FREE demonstration of how to do the Frenchic Paint Fake Wood Hack from 12 till 2 come and see how it’s done and you can even have a go yourself and today there is 10% off all Frenchic Products ❤️

Our traders have also been busy restocking and we have also had two new traders join us so today is definitely a day to pop by.

We are OPEN everyday 10-4 and Closed on Wednesdays.

A little piece of Burton’s story…

This lovely picture of Burton upon Trent Market Place found its way to us recently, and naturally we couldn't resist doing a little detective work.

It appears to capture an ordinary market day — the stalls stretching across the square, shoppers going about their business, a little dog accompanying its owner, and St Modwen’s Church watching over a scene that will probably feel very familiar to generations of Burton folk.

We believe it may date from around the 1980s, although we'd love to hear from anyone who can help us narrow that down.
And then there's the signature: R. Price.

Who was R. Price? Was this painted from life, from a photograph, or simply from memory? Was the artist local? And might there be other Burton scenes by the same hand tucked away in homes somewhere?

That's part of what we love about old things.

We’re excited to announce 'The Art of Woods Ware' a Fun and Colourful Still Life Painting Day with acclaimed artist, Louise Adams, at Barewall Art Gallery Studio in Burslem. 🎨

Louise studied at the Royal College of Art, designed for Minton and spent 18 years as Art Director at Royal Crown Derby. Now she’ll share her love of colour and pattern in an intimate and welcoming class inspired by original Wood’s Ware ceramics.🖌

You’ll begin with relaxed drawing exercises, then explore gouache and ink as Louise guides you towards your own still life painting inspired by Wood's Ware. This medium, traditionally used in design studios, is loved for it’s opacity and vibrancy. It’s easy to use, and you'll experiment with flat painting, colour, blending and shapes before you start the still life painting to make a decorative work of art.

With just 12 places, there’ll be plenty of individual guidance from Louise.
Lunch, refreshments and all materials are included, and you’ll take your painting home. 🎨

Beginners and experienced artists are welcome.👩‍🎨👨🏻‍🎨
