Special Measures, a new farce by Joe Plumb is coming to Department, Ryde this summer. Don’t miss this hilarious take on working in a school.

This high-energy, madcap show follows an ordinary secondary school whose staff room is into absolute chaos after the sudden arrival of an inspector. The storyline features everything from fights over the staff coffee machine and rollerskating zumbathons to stationery cupboard wars over highlighters.

Kids Terrarium Workshop TOMORROW!

Do you have a budding gardener at home?

Join us for our Craft Term Terrarium Workshop with Laura from Cotton and Leaf, where children can create their very own miniature garden in glass.

Using a selection of plants, decorative items and their own creativity, participants will be guided through building a terrarium to take home and enjoy.

All materials included.

Suitable for all ages. Younger children may need support from a parent or guardian.

Perfect for beginners, this hands-on workshop will introduce you to different types of glass and the tools used in the process, before guiding you in creating your own fused glass decoration.

A 10 x 10cm glass piece is included for you to decorate using coloured glass, along with basic instruction and glass firing.

Join us for our very first Department Scratch Night, an evening of extracts, works in progress and brand new ideas from artists developing new productions.

The line up for May includes an extract from Joe Plumb’s new production Ryde Girl, Mitch Hamer’s Felicity’s Will, new work by Ashley Hetherington, Keeper by Anmarie Bowler and more.

Come and get a first look at the next wave of new theatre and performance being created at Department.
