The Reed family have been selling furniture and home accessories in Saffron Walden for over 140 years. Beginning with T Reed & Son and then branching out to Angela Reed in 1991. Since then, we have grown to house 13 rooms brimming with individual, stylish and inspirational furniture and home accessories. As a family run business, we pride ourselves on offering all of our customers an impeccable service and excellent value. We offer an entire range of products for the home, including dining, bedroom and living room furniture as well as rugs, cushions, throws, bed linen, tableware, lighting, clocks, pictures, mirrors and so much more.

Why it has happened.

This time of year people buy dining tables right?

WRONG

You guys had other ideas…it’s all been about the sofas. And our Florence sofa is sitting right at the top (pun intended)!

I’m guessing because it’s stylish, compact, comfy and quick to deliver. Yep, we love efficiency too.

Here is Florence again in all her sumptuous glory…

But you still really love Lacey! It’s squidgy and loungey (yes these are technical terms) and looks super plush but carries a very attractive price point (just saying)

And this Bobbin Coffee table is not only lovely to look at, it’s rather nice to put your feet on too. I know, personally, because we have one. 😉

And then there’s Henley. Ah, good ole Henley (which is not old by the way, it’s new to us), but this sofa is that one that you can fully lie out on…maybe fall asleep on. It’s that comfy!

But, after scratching our heads, and trying to work out WHY you guys decided to buck the dining trend…we came to one conclusion…

It’s because you’re all watching Netflix UK & Ireland The Gentlemen right? You need supreme comfort for that.

Again, we know this, because we have been doing the same…like I said, the Bobbin Coffee Table is a must 😊

What does the future of an independent interiors and furniture shop look like?

It’s a question we ask ourselves a lot at Angela Reed.

We’re a 145 year old family business in Saffron Walden, and this is actually how quite a lot of our ideas begin: walking around the shop together, looking at every room and discussing what we could change, move, improve or do completely differently.

It’s also, apparently, how we spend our spare time. 😂

The other day we did another full family walk around, took plenty of photos and started playing with some ideas for different spaces around the shop. We’ve included a few of the concepts we’ve been thinking about here too.

Some might happen. Some might not. We’ll almost certainly change our minds about a few of them.

That’s part of the fun of having a furniture and interiors shop like this. There is always another corner to rethink, another room that could work differently and another idea to try.

And we’ve picked a big one for September.

This month we’re reading Big Little Truths by Liane Moriarty, returning to the world of Big Little Lies and the women of Pirriwee.

Friendship, family, secrets and all the complicated bits of life that rarely look quite the same from the outside.

Most importantly, it sounds like the sort of book you accidentally read far too late into the night. Which is exactly what we want from The Reading Table.
