A beautifully formed lamp by early 20th‑century makers Simanco, c.1930

A delicate and now increasingly scarce lamp, originally fitted to the side of seamstress’s Singer sewing machines. These examples survive in unusually complete condition, retaining their original Bakelite shades (one with crisp Singer branding) and original glass lenses that are so often missing from other examples due to loss or damage. Mounted to their original simple, weighty cast base for stability - a practical, unfussy presentation that suits them well.

A long‑time favourite of ours for its quiet character and industrial grace.

An incredible open Easy Armchair by renowned furniture makers Howard & Sons. c.1850

An early open‑arm Easy Chair with single turned front legs and a crescent‑buttoned back. Recently reupholstered to Howard’s original specification using their factory‑monogrammed ticking. During the strip‑down a fragment of the chair’s earlier cotton ticking was discovered; this pattern was faithfully replicated so the upholstery is historically accurate to how the chair would have left Howard’s workshop in the mid‑19th century.

The rear leg carries the earlier four‑digit Howard numerical stamp 3597 and the chair retains its original Howard‑stamped brass castors.

Full restoration and reupholstery were completed by Giles Bray of in March 2026.

Elegantly formed shop window display lamps made in England by GEC - General Electric Company. c.1920.

Branded as the GecoRay, these lights were designed to illuminate stock high-end retail shop window displays in the early-mid 20th Century. These are more on the diminutive side than those usually seen, but super decorative with a wonderful array of colour on the inside of the mirrored reflectors. The shades are mounted to silver plated brackets from the same period. Priced as a pair.
