Has finally had enough of grey?

For years, grey dominated everything. Grey walls, grey sofas, grey kitchens and, of course, grey carpets.

But tastes are changing.
Warmer, softer, more natural shades are coming back, and Cormar Malabar in Husk is a great example.

It sits somewhere between beige and grey, the much used term is greige, but with enough warmth to make a room feel comfortable rather than cold.

And judging by this room, grey might finally have some serious competition.

During the week it’s carpet stair runners. At the weekend, it was running with 20,000 others. 🏃‍♂️

Our Rob swapped measuring stair runners for pounding the streets of London as he took on the Vitality London 10,000 alongside 20,000 runners last weekend.

Those same feet that spend the week helping customers across Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and London were carrying him past Buckingham Palace on race day.

This is a cracking finish. A stair runner gives you the warmth and comfort of carpet while keeping the character of the timber staircase on show.

This recent 123floor installation combines a natural textured runner with a contrasting border, fitted neatly around the turns and finished against the exposed wood.

A great choice if you want something a little different from a fully carpeted staircase.

One of the most common questions we get asked is:

"How do I get red w**e out of my carpet?"

The honest answer is, act fast.

If you spill red w**e:

• Blot it immediately with clean kitchen roll or a white cloth.
• Don't rub it. Rubbing pushes the stain deeper into the fibres.
• Use cold water, not hot.
• Blot again until no more colour transfers.
• Avoid random internet remedies. Some make the stain permanent.

The biggest mistake we see is waiting until the next day. By then the stain has often set and becomes much harder to remove.

The same advice applies to coffee, tea, fruit juice and many pet accidents.

The good news is that not all carpets are created equal when it comes to stains.

Polypropylene carpets are naturally stain resistant, making them a popular choice for busy family homes, landlords and anyone wanting a practical, low maintenance floor.

At 123floor, we've always believed in doing things properly.

That includes recycling wherever possible and reducing waste from our installations. It's something we've been doing for years because it's the right thing to do, not because anyone told us to.

Now we've taken that a step further.

We've joined the new Amtico Take Back Scheme, which means luxury vinyl tile offcuts and uplifted flooring from our projects can be collected and recycled instead of going to landfill.

Clean offcuts are recycled back into new flooring products. Used material is recycled into other products such as traffic management equipment. Nothing goes to waste.

Across the hundreds of flooring projects we complete every year, that adds up to a significant reduction in landfill and a more sustainable approach to flooring installation.

Our customers expect high quality workmanship, great service and a company that takes pride in what it does. This is another example of us investing in better ways of working.

The flooring industry still has work to do when it comes to sustainability. We're proud to be playing our part.
