Roughly 640,000 tonnes of ghost gear enters our ocean every year, therefore there is always plenty that wash up on our coastlines! It’s so sad to think of this ghost gear catching all marine life that comes into its path, so getting it off the beach before it can re-enter the ocean is really important to me. I started by just focusing on this, but then it occurred to me that so much of this ghost gear is still functional, and can be easily repurposed. So then began Cornish Threads💙
