A new lease of life for the parquet at Christchurch Community Hall ✨

The before photos show the wear and tear, but there was much more to this restoration than sanding.

Large sections had previously been repaired with mismatched timber, and thousands of masonry nails had been used to pin loose blocks down. We carefully removed the affected blocks and nails, replacing them with matching reclaimed timber to bring the original pattern and character back together.

We also scraped away the bitumen that had worked its way up through the joints before fully sanding and sealing the floor with Bona Traffic HD Matt. 👌

It was an honour to be chosen for this project. We know how much these halls mean to their communities, and how carefully their budgets have to be managed. Helping preserve a floor like this for many more years of use makes the work especially rewarding.

A cleaner, more unified look for this open-plan living, dining and kitchen space 🤍

We restored the original rustic oak kitchen floor when the customers moved into their home around ten years ago, so it was lovely to return for the next chapter.

With plans to replace the living room carpet, they considered continuing the rustic style throughout, but decided they wanted a different feel for the space.

Their choice was this beautiful brushed and lacquered prime grade oak, bringing a cleaner appearance while retaining the warmth and natural character of real wood.

One continuous floor, tying all three areas together beautifully. 👌

A splash of colour at Ringwood Scout Hut 🎨📍

This afternoon we’ve been setting out and painting bespoke line markings, with custom colours bringing the floor to life as part of the Bona SuperSport HD system.

Tomorrow morning we’ll lightly screen the lines to provide a key, thoroughly vacuum and tack rag, then apply the final coat. 👌

Looking forward to sharing the finished result!

Level 10 unlocked! 🎮🏆

Ten years ago, Ryan joined Salisbury Wood Floors, and last week we celebrated a very special milestone.

We even recorded a team meeting to thank him properly… or at least we thought we did. Someone forgot to press record. We won’t mention any names! 😂

Ryan and I spent many years working alongside each other on the tools. As the business has grown, the admin has dragged me away from site more than I’d like, but Ryan has continued doing what he does best. He’s a core part of our team, brilliant to have around, and someone I’m hugely grateful and proud to have worked with for all these years.

Being a gamer, we thought a “Level 10 Unlocked” shirt was only fitting. Alongside his trophy and a well-earned bonus, we gave him a W***y Wonka chocolate bar with his very own golden ticket inside: an extra week’s paid holiday! Plus a few other treats to say thank you for his hard work and commitment. 🍫🎫

We’re lucky to have a team who’ve been with us for years. Shaz is coming up to ten years next year, Matt eight, and Mike and Charlie seven. I’d like to think it’s because we look after each other… although the work trips, unlimited tea, coffee and biscuits probably help! ☕🍪

Ryan, thank you for everything you’ve put into the last ten years. It’s the people who make this business, and you’ve been a huge part of that.

Here’s to many more years working together. Plenty more levels to unlock yet! 👏

These floorboards started life as old structural timbers.

As good reclaimed pine boards become harder to source, old floor joists, rafters and other timbers can be carefully machined down and given a completely new purpose as flooring.

Older structural timbers like these were often slow-grown Baltic pine, usually Scots pine, although the exact species can be difficult to confirm once reclaimed.

The boards shown here had already been installed by the contractor before we arrived. We then sanded and finished three floors across the property, including some of the original boards in the other rooms.

The reclaimed pine was finished with Bona Traffic HD Extra Matt, retaining the natural grain, colour and character of the timber.

✨ Transforming the look of oak without losing its natural character.

This hallway, kitchen, dining room and utility originally had the rich, warm tones typical of an older oak floor. Our client wanted a softer, more neutral finish to better complement the style of their home.

After preparing the floor, we applied one coat of Bona White Primer, followed by two coats of Bona Traffic Raw.

Rather than bleaching the timber, Bona White Primer uses subtle white pigments to gently neutralise the warm amber tones, creating a lighter, more contemporary appearance while allowing the natural grain and character of the oak to remain the focal point. The Bona Traffic Raw finish then protects the floor while maintaining the beautiful, ultra-matt look of untreated wood.

The result is a brighter, fresher space that still celebrates the natural beauty of the original oak floor.

Designed around our client’s vision and professionally supplied and finished by the team at Salisbury Wood Floors.

Sometimes a project deserves more than a quick video, but here’s a glimpse of this bespoke installation featuring smoked black distressed planks, handcrafted parquet, and a precision brass inlay framing the hallway tiles. Designed in collaboration with the client and their interior designer, then expertly supplied and fitted by the Salisbury Wood Floors team to bring their vision to life.

With the building project now nearing completion, we’re carrying out the final clean and applying a fresh maintenance coat of oil to ensure the floor looks its absolute best ready for handover.

It’s the finer details that transform a floor from beautiful to truly bespoke.

✨ Swipe to see the transformation.

It’s always incredibly satisfying bringing an original parquet floor back to life especially when there’s a lot missing.

When we first arrived, this floor had seen better days. Years of wear, previous alterations and damaged sections meant it needed much more than just sanding.

Over the years, we’ve built up a large stock of reclaimed parquet blocks, allowing us to carefully match and replace damaged or missing sections before sanding and refinishing the entire floor. This helps preserve the original character while creating repairs that blend seamlessly into the existing floor.

The result? A beautifully restored parquet floor that’s ready to be enjoyed for many more years.

We believe that, wherever possible, original wood floors deserve to be saved rather than replaced. Seeing transformations like this is exactly why we do what we do.

Would you restore your original parquet or replace it?

A stunning master bedroom and dressing room completed in a beautifully textured Ripped Oak floor, finished in a bespoke colour created specifically for our client.

What makes Ripped Oak so unique is the way the surface is crafted. Rather than being sanded completely smooth, the timber is processed to follow the natural grain, creating a textured finish that highlights the character of the oak. The result is a floor that not only looks incredible but can genuinely be felt underfoot, bringing a natural warmth and authenticity to the space.

Bedrooms are the perfect place for a floor like this. The texture, the warmth and the connection to the natural timber create a completely different feel to a traditional smooth floor. It’s one of those products that has to be seen and felt in person to be fully appreciated.

It was great to return to this property after previously installing the parquet flooring downstairs and complete the next stage of the project. We always appreciate being invited back by our clients and trusted with another part of their home.

A fantastic installation by Mike and Charlie.

A classic pattern, redefined.

Herringbone is timeless but scale and layout can completely transform the feel of a floor.

Here we’ve installed a large format, bespoke double herringbone using rustic oak blocks, creating a pattern that feels both traditional and architectural.

The larger blocks give the floor presence.
The double layout adds rhythm and depth.
And the natural variation in the rustic oak keeps it grounded and full of character.

It’s a subtle shift from the norm, but one that makes a real statement.

Design is often about taking something familiar… and doing it differently.
