Guild Anderson Bespoke Handmade Kitchens & Interiors
Wonderful kitchens and back of house spaces for families to flourish in After 20 years, we have that in abundance.

As unfashionable as it may be, we are a team that believes in good old fashioned personal service.

We work in country houses of all sizes, from cottages to manor houses. We love the variety of our client’s homes, and we believe that for back of house domestic spaces to perform to their fullest, they are best created by designers with experience of life. The rooms we create are there to be used. To be there for your family’s journey. To be dented, scuffed and enriched with the hallmarks of daily life. To tell stories. And, after a few years perhaps, given a fresh coat of paint ready for the next generation to enjoy. Designing good value, beautiful and high functioning environments for families to thrive in requires a highly collaborative approach between us. It also requires trust. Through enthusiasm, curiosity, collaborating closely with you, caring deeply about your project and communicating clearly, we can create wonderful kitchens and domestic spaces which will be a joy to live in for a lifetime. We design and make bespoke handmade kitchens, pantries, sculleries and boot rooms. We work across Wiltshire, Dorset, Hampshire, Somerset and sometimes further afield. Most of our kitchens cost between £60,000 and £120,000 (includes VAT, appliances, fitting etc)

Kitchen projects reach us in a variety of ways, chiefly directly from clients but often via their architects, interior designers and project managers. All of whom share our love of English country houses and the sympathetic design styles which make them beautiful places to live.

Bespoke kitchen design can add up to 40% more storage space, so we make cabinetry to fit the smallest of alcoves, or the largest of rooms, utilising every conceivable space, making it uniquely liveable.

Set within our Cook's table kitchen islands we create ample storage drawers, deep enough for pots and pans or crockery. Shallow enough to house cutlery, or for storing spice jars.

There is something wonderfully comforting about a window seat in the kitchen. A place to pause with a morning coffee, sit with a book, or simply linger while something is cooking.

Painted joinery creates a quiet nook around the light, with a softly cushioned bench and a simple wooden table at its centre. A small space, thoughtfully designed, but one that quickly becomes part of everyday life.

The original kitchen was a tiny space, located in a corner of the house, and felt disproportionate for a home of this size. It felt more appropriate to relocate it to what was the drawing room, creating a large family kitchen, making full use of the floor to ceiling windows and the beautiful view to the garden.

Designing areas that extend beyond the normal parameters of kitchen design allows us to create a completed room that sits comfortably within the architecture of the house.

Here an oak window seat, purposefully designed to sit above a radiator, offering a peaceful perch for morning coffee and, beneath, a warm refuge for the family’s three dogs thanks to a dog bed.

There isn't a 'one size fits all' approach to bespoke design. Each project is unique.

At the heart of every room we create is collaboration. Working with our clients we create back of house spaces that are practical, understated and as individual as each of the homes in which we work.

How does a kitchen for a period Georgian house in Hampshire showcase our approach to kitchen design?

Practical, understated, yet designed to feel as if it has always been part of the fabric of the building - it is inspired by traditional estate joiners that once worked on period houses up and down the country.

Our approach is rooted in the art of designing and making kitchens and working rooms which belong to their house, serve daily life beautifully, and endure for generations.

Our client has several four-legged friends, and top of their list of renovation requirements was a dedicated dog room to house all their paraphernalia. A room that has proved to be essential for drying any muddy wet paws returning from long walks.

The result is a bespoke dog room that is built for the working life of the home, and for the loyal companions who are very much part of the family.

London town houses often ask for a different kind of kitchen.

A galley kitchen can be compact, but it needn’t feel confined. Thoughtful proportions, considered cabinetry and beautifully resolved details can make every inch work hard, while respecting the architecture of the house.

From practical storage and hardworking surfaces to discreet places for appliances and everyday essentials. The result is a uniquely stylish kitchen that feels as though it belongs.
