Some of our top tips for making your flowers last the longest as we move into the summer months!☀️😎⛱️
☀️When you first receive your bouquet make sure to remove all the wrappings. Leave the string tying the stems together as this holds the spiral arrangement we worked hard to make!
☀️Trim the stems at a sharp angle with some sharp scissors. This gives the stems a larger surface area for the water to be absorbed from compared to if they are cut straight across. It means the flowers will be able to have a good drink!
☀️Choose a vase suitable for the size of bouquet. Make sure it is big enough for your flowers.
☀️Ensure your vase is clean. We recommend to squeeze a tiny bit of household bleach in, rinse it out with water, then refill it again. There should be some slight bubbles which disappear once it’s been refilled. (If it’s very bubbly and strong-smelling you’ve put too much!) This ensures the vase is completely clean of bacteria.
☀️Add your flower food sachet to the water and mix well.
Flower food is made up of sugars, bleach and PH balancer.
This again means the water is clean from bacteria and the flowers get all the nutrients they need.
☀️Flowers are happiest under 14 degrees but unfortunately we are way beyond that in the summer months! Keep them somewhere cool and out of direct sunlight where you can enjoy them.
☀️When it’s especially hot, change the water more regularly than you normally would. At this time of year, every 2 or 3 days is ideal.
☀️Remove individual dead or dying blooms from the vase as you notice them. If anything has fallen into the water make sure to give the water a quick change. Leaves in the water are a breeding ground for bacteria! 🦠This helps the remaining flowers last longer.
☀️Most of all enjoy your flowers! We want to make sure you get the most out of your bouquet, whether it was a gift from a loved one or a treat for yourself!
Hope this helps!
