Every bedroom we design starts with the same question: how do you want to feel when you wake up?

For some clients the answer is calm and grounding. For others, it’s colour, pattern and a room that makes them smile. These five rooms each began with a very different brief, from a London home to a family cottage and a holiday let on the Suffolk coast.

Which would you choose? Tell us your number below.

Favourite mugs, a well-stocked tea shelf and a pop of green: this is a kitchen made for everyday living.

Designed by the architect, the kitchen features the same Little Greene Hopper found in the boot room, linking the two spaces. We added warmth with a functional roller blind in Mulberry’s Basketweave in Russet, and that pop of red is picked up in the corner cabinet, home to the client’s favourite mugs and teapots.

Above the coffee machine, new shelves hold their collection of teas, with hooks for mugs below. We also helped organise the storage throughout, so everything needed for day-to-day life is easy to reach.

Muddy paws, damp coats and wellies by the door: every good walk starts and ends here 🐾

In our Artisan Cottage project, the boot room cabinetry was designed by the architect and finished in Little Greene’s Hopper, a rich green that gives this hardworking space plenty of character.

We softened it with wicker baskets on wheels for simpler, more usable storage (especially for shoes), then added lots of hooks so every lead, coat and hat has its place.

A room that works hard every day, and looks beautiful while doing it.

Our latest living room project: comfortable, practical and made for family life 🐾

When Charlotte and Elle first stepped into this space, it was clear that a corner sofa would offer the most generous, comfortable (and wonderfully inviting!) seating. The bespoke unit was designed to fit the room perfectly, keeping the left-hand side clear as a walkway between the boot room and the hallway.

The layout centres on the coffee table, the heart of family games nights, with space to pull up extra chairs when relatives come to stay at Christmas and want to join in the fun.

The architects added the beautiful plasterwork, creating a softly textured backdrop, while Suffolk Interiors Ltd supplied the joinery. Painted in Little Greene Rolling Fog, the media unit provides a much-needed bookcase for the family’s collection, along with a discreet home for the TV (not photographed).

To finish, we helped our clients display their own family art in a gallery wall above the sofa. It draws the colours of the room together and adds a lovely layer of softness to the space ✨

We are still head over heels for this beautiful cabinetry, painted in a rich coral and finished with bamboo beading and bamboo lacquer handles. Just divine!

This guest bedroom doubles up as a study - a really hardworking space with plenty of character through thoughtful details.

Notes from the Studio ✨

This month has been full of lovely moments here at Cotton Tree Interiors where we worked hard but enjoyed our beautiful surroundings here in Suffolk too 🌞

We welcomed our brilliant reps from Holly Hunt and Schumacher into the studio, always a treat to sit down with them and see what’s new. We also unwrapped the unreleased ROMO collection books which we are all very excited about!

We celebrated two birthdays in August too. Director Kim was treated to a wonderful cake baked by senior designer Becky, and Becky (who usually bakes all of our cakes!) had the tables turned, with Kim baking her a beautiful feline-inspired cherry chocolate cake in return.

Beyond the studio walls, the team have been making the most of a gorgeous Suffolk summer, with plenty of trips to our favourite spots along the coastline. They’ve shared a few snippets here too… from Walberswick to Southwold and Aldeburgh, with a stunning sunset in Walpole captured too 🌅

Lots to be grateful for in August, and now it’s ‘back to school’ as we start on some new projects, wrap up existing ones, and prepare for a busy September here in the Cotton Tree studio. 🤍

We’d love to know if you enjoyed any of our gorgeous beaches here in Suffolk this summer too? Let us know in the comments if you did! ✨

Hello all and happy September 🌞

After a busy summer we all have that ‘back to school’ feeling this week, with children going back, holidays coming to an end, and new projects kicking off. We hope you’ve all had a wonderful summer, and look forward to sharing what we’ve been up to very soon.

The Bell Hotel, Saxmundham: Phase 3 🔔✨

Some projects feel that little bit extra special, and this one is no exception.

The Bell Hotel sits just a stone’s throw from our studio here in Saxmundham, making it one of the most personal commissions we’ve had the pleasure of working on.

What began as a full renovation in 2022 has grown into an ongoing creative relationship. For phase three, we were trusted to design four more bedrooms, each one inspired by the Suffolk landscapes on our doorstep.

Swipe through to step inside the new bedrooms… Blythe, Butley, Deben, and Minsmere ✨

We’re so grateful to the team at the Bell for continuing to trust Cotton Tree with their vision. Watching this hotel come back to life, phase by phase, has been one of our greatest joys.
