Meet “Mermaid.”

Burr elm lives edge coffee table, 105cm across at its widest. That swirling, clustered figuring covers every inch of the surface. No two patches the same. The teal resin fill in the natural void catches the light like water.

This one took a while. It was worth it.

This landed in my inbox this afternoon and it made my day. ☀️

A customer who picked up two boards at this morning sent me this photo — they’re already living in his flat, styled between vintage suitcases and ceramics like they’ve always been there.

His words: “Truly things of beauty.”

This is exactly why I make what I make. Not just something to put food on. Something that earns a permanent spot in your home and still stops people in their tracks.

Both of these are sold, but if you want to see the new work in person, I'm at next Saturday (9 May, The Green, 10–5). Come say hello.

I made this console table for a friend.

There’s something special about creating a piece that will live in someone’s everyday space. Not just for display. Not just for a fair. But for keys, lamps, plants, real life.

Walnut with a beautiful soft edge and stunning grain. Clean black legs to keep it modern.

I haven’t posted in a while… but I’m still here. Still making.

If you’ve got an awkward hallway or a space that needs something beautifully useful, I take commissions.

This commission began with a chat at Hever Castle , followed a week later by:
“Love your stuff. Trust your judgement. What would you recommend for us?”

My client wanted an eye-catching, unique coffee table. Not square. Not round. We landed on an oval. I showed him two options. One in elm. One in London plane. Both beautiful, but completely different in tone and impact.

He chose the London plane (thank you ). The movement in the grain. The warmth. The drama. Paired with a stunning blue resin river, it became a piece that feels like a landscape captured in texture, colour and light. A real mic drop.

If you would like a bespoke piece and want someone who can guide you through the timber and design choices, just drop me a message. I love helping people find the piece that feels right the moment they see it.

Handcrafted to serve up Sunday in style ✨
These custom oak serving platters were made for restaurant who wanted something special to display their Sunday roasts. Each piece is finished with a juice groove, copper handles and (of course) Odies Oil to make them food safe and hard wearing. These babies have been designed to last a lifetime of meals, memories and conversations.

There’s something I love about making boards that don’t just look beautiful, but become part of the ritual of gathering together.

Thanks for the slabs and the only finish I trust .uk 🫶

💬 Thinking about a custom piece of your own? Drop me a message. I’d love to make something just for you.

Sometimes the best things happen when you don’t plan them.

Yesterday at someone stopped for a quick look… and walked away with one of my biggest chopping boards.

He sent me an email last night: “I had no intention of spending £195 on a chopping board — but I’m really glad I did. I really appreciate your laid-back approach; I love supporting small businesses.”

And he sent me this: beer can chicken, broccoli, rice and a glass of fizz — all served up on his new board. YUM!

Moments like this remind me why I do what I do. It’s never just a chopping board — it’s something special you’ll use and love for years to come.

Here’s to slow-made pieces, spontaneous treats, and people who choose handmade.
I can’t wait to see what he cooks next 👀

✨ Every piece starts with a conversation — message me if you’d like one made just for you.

Turns out sawdust isn’t my only superpower…

Most people know me for the woodwork - the buckets of resin, slabs of timber and endless craft fairs - but I also work as a business consultant.

The two sound wildly different, but the truth is, they’re not. It’s me, just in different clothes!

Because whether I’m building a board or helping a firm grow, it’s still about the same things:
✨ Connection
✨ Curiosity
✨ Trust
✨ Storytelling

That’s the heart of Sawn by Sarah.
It’s why I make. And why I love hearing what you want me to help you create next.

Want something custom? I’ve got time next month for a few new commissions. Let’s make something beautiful.
