Dorset Buttons meet Croquet. Last year I joined my local Croquet Club in Tisbury and have now become addicted to this gentle game. Although sometimes it's not so gentle when you ball is sent of the lawn. By they way, unlike the start of Rivals, I don't play in red very high healed shoes, I choose sensible comfortable trainers.
As part of Tisbury Fete we will be playing for anyone who whould like to see how the game is played. I'm playing a short game this at 12.30pm. You can find us at the far end of the football grounds.

This is the secon batch of Dorset K**b Buttons made in the traditional way for a commission I've received. I dip the small pieces of fabric into a flour and water paste before wrapping a piece of fine linen thread around the form. I then push it into the mould and leave it for twenty four hours to dry. The final stage is to embroider around the form.

After every batch made I cover the button as well as myself in the white paste. So must go now and clean up.

There are a couple of spaces on my Dorset Button workshop 'Fun With Textiles and Yarn' on Saturday 16th May.
For all of you who have followed me on Instagram and/or Facebook know how much I enjoy working with textiles and different yarns. This workshop, ‘Fun With Textiles and Yarn’.
This whole day workshop for up to five participants will take place in my studio in Donhead St Mary, near Shaftesbury in Dorset, and costs £70.00 each. This includes all materials including a 30cm ring, instructions and refreshments. Lunch is not included. I advise participants to bring their own as the nearest pub and shop is over a mile from the studio. Details on how to find my studio will be sent to you nearer the date.
To book a place please message me or follow the link in my Bio or go to my website www.henrysbuttons.co.uk.

I'm looking forward to welcoming participants to my Dorset Buttons and beading workshop in my studio in Donhead St Mary near Shaftesbury, this coming Saturday 9th May.
I love working beads into my Dorset Buttons as you can see from the images. Beading can add a different dimension to a project. Over the years I have used all sorts of beads from fine semi-precious stone beads and Swarovski crystals right up to handmade beads from Africa and my own paper beads and clay beads. A selection of different types of beads can be used to form patterns or even to highlight a pattern. Beads are fun.
I have one space left so if you would like to join us please message me or go to my website to book a place. You will find the link in my bio.

A couple of years ago I brought an old necklace made with Lapis lazuli beads. The necklace was ready to be remodeled. Many beads had been lost. After pulling it apart I decided to make myself a necklace using, you have probably guessed, Dorset Buttons. Here are a few photos of its construction.

As tou can see from the box of beads I have plenty of beads to construct another necklace. If you are interested in having one please message me.

I have just a couple of places left on my online workshop to make this brooch and button on Tuesday 28th April. The workshop kit includes everything to make this fun brooch all you need are scissors.

What a lovely time away visiting places from my long ago past in south Devon. I used my senior bus pass to travel around. Lovely not to have to look for a place to park. Also you can see over the hedges. I stayed in Salcombe and was able include a visit to Dartmouth, where, in the 1970s, I used to have lovely meals in a restaurant that overlooked the quay.
Also managed to take in the Beryl Cook exhibition in Plymouth. The city has certainly changed since I was at the Polytechnic in the 70s.
