I had an absolutely amazing wheel experience this morning. A lovely young chap bought it as a gift for his fiance who had always wanted to try it. They are both teachers and were both fully engaged in the whole process. I am always in awe and full of admiration for teachers as they do a job I don't think I could. I love sharing my passion but not with anyone who isn't interested, as so many kids are. Mind you, I'm sure they'd all appreciate a go on a wheel at school?? Thank you, also, to the pottery throwdown TV programme for bringing clay to a wider audience!!

Some beautiful photos of students' work in their homes. Very wonderful to see... My kiln isn't working at the moment so it's a bit stressful as there are lots of things to fire!! Always really grateful for patience and support during these increasingly frequent periods! I need a new kiln. Can't work out if the damp in the studio is the issue or just the increased volume of firings I'm doing... 🤔 Anyway, these photos have absolutely lifted my spirits so thank you ladies 🥰😘🥰😘🥰😘

I love the range of things made on my six week classes. It's a very different class to the day workshops where it's an opportunity to try lots of different things. In these images we've an enclosed thrown form with inlaid slips, to look like a pebble, a stylised chicken made from pinching, coiling and slab building and a wonderful first attempt at coiling a pot. I give absolutely everything I've got to my students because it's so rewarding. I don't always get things right. Ceramics is a massively diverse subject and I don't know the half of it. I'm sure I never will. I have had a few breakages recently and they all weigh heavily on my shoulders. BUT, I love the joy people get from creating - regardless of the outcomes sometimes. Today I stand proudly in my door way and give myself a rare pat on the back. I fought tooth and nail to be here, to be doing what I love and to pass that passion on.

Two more green men out of the kiln. Phew!! Due to the construction methods these are a bit risky to fire so I can't say I've not had kittens while they've been cooking!! Modelling faces is incredibly complicated so I'm very proud of the hard work put in to these!!

Yvette's fabulous green man... the hole is for water to pour through. He just needs some glass in his eyes now 🥰🥰

I had a very special bespoke workshop today. A lovely lady, who has been before with her sister and Mum, came today with Aunt Trish too, who was the most gorgeous woman. Trish had lost sensation in one hand so making was quite challenging, I'd imagine, but she made not one whisper of complaint and so gently asked for assistance when needed. She made a beautiful rose garden support but the second one she made she wanted to put a bird on it. She told me of a one legged pigeon she'd had in her garden which she'd fed and become attached to. One day he stopped coming but she said she still looked for him even though she imagined he was no longer with us. We all need things in life that give us meaning, joy and hope and Trish, you brought me lots today. What a privilege to share a day with such wonderful women.
