When this project started the client opened with a single point for the brief- “I would like the cupboards and shelves to share elements with my favourite chair.”
And that was all that was needed. Dark wood accents, spindles, gentle curves, working in threes, there was so much to be taken as a starting point for inquisitive responses and potential leads to inform the design.
The build was completed as a floor to ceiling fitted cupboard with internal drawers, balcony shelves to the open corner and a false floor that provided access to electrical ‘stuff’ for the kitchen beneath.

I recently completed this side cabinet for a client who has an Apothecary (potions, tinctures, unguents-possibly one of the best words ever spoken and general magical things). I was asked to create a heritage piece. Here is what I made.

Two tier Tambour door storage with Kumiko inspired fretwork on the interior. This was to work both visually and functionally. The pattern is reminiscent of Passionflower, one of her favourite ingredients. The fretwork will allow light to move across the width of the unit and will interplay with the coloured glass bottles stored inside.

Look closely and you’ll notice that all the tambour pieces are in fact mirrored pairs ☺️

The semicircular drawers feature an internal waffle pattern for storing Pipette bottles and move on a custom runner system. The handles are the pieces that were lasercut from the tambour doors

The top is a bespoke piece of veneered work to represent Mugwort and Ribwort, two more key ingredients in the client’s practice.

Built specifically to be placed against the wall between the Cellar door and the hallway door in a Sheffield mid terrace the unit is wide and shallow because the kitchen/dining room is still a functional place.

All needs catered for, many rabbit holes successfully navigated and much joy had in its creation. Many thanks for the work

Working for a client with a broad sweeping brief that asked for a unifying visual theme across the main living areas of their new house. Add to that working in Oak but keep it light, contemporary and soft to contrast against the regular angles of this modern townhouse.
Oh, did I mention, can you build us a library please. 🙏 Yeah I can!! Absolutely a bucket list project for me. A private library to include wraparound shelving on all walls, over doorways and also a WFH desk area.
There are a couple of elements left to complete but they require time spent in the space to reach a decision.

Sometimes I make things for myself.
During Lockdown I decided it was my time to build a boat. To take the metaphor of an unplanned journey and make it real. To learn how hard it is to make a seaworthy vessel (the answer is it’s really hard!) and then to put that boat to sea and paddle away from the land in it.
I did all of those things and it was a great adventure. I’m no artist but I think occasionally I make art, this is one of those occasions.
For the record, I built every aspect of Medusa, paddles as well. She has paddled out of Fowey Harbour into the English Channel and she has navigated three rivers so far.
My friend is a great artist and he paints boats as marvellous metaphors. Sometimes life imitates art.
Working within the art begins to rub off on you.

approached me in the first instance to design their interior and then build it for them. This was an opportunity I seized with both hands. A blank canvas in Little Kelham? Yes please!!Continuing to work with Sam and Becca since they opened has brought about several new design tasks, none more challenging than this one. How do you install a baby changing unit to a small restroom that is made from plasterboard walls? No strength in any wall to hold an off-the-shelf solution. The answer was to transfer all the weight down to the floor and build an upside down hinge system.
Designed and built to meet all the relevant industry standards, this unit can be operated with a single hand whilst the other makes sure your little one doesn’t move.
Making sure that visually it was sympathetic to the existing interior was an additional element to work with and the result is something that ticks all the boxes.
If you run a similar enterprise or know someone who also has a small hospitality venue that needs this solution then please DM me or choose the link in the bio and messsge me through the website.
