My latest refurb, brand and age unknown, but judging by the carpentry on it, it looks mid-1800s in ages at a guess.
We're keeping this ✨
I wish I'd taken some before pics, because it was *gross* I paid £40 for it on fbmp and as soon as I went to collect it I had instant regret. It stunk of ni****ne, it was filthy, stained, had broken handles, broken drawer bottoms. Generally just one of the worst things I've spent money on. It sat in the garage for about 10 months because I couldn't bring myself to clean it.
Finally bit the bullet and cleaned the drawers, sanded them and stained in dark oak. I fixed the bottoms and added new handles in keeping with its style. I also added William Morris as a drawer liner.
Then I cleaned, sanded and stained the unit.
Even after all the cleaning it still stunk, which I worked out was the back board, so I ripped this off and replaced it. Smell gone and not one drop of paint on the actual unit, just fully refurbished to its beautiful former glory.
