Following on from the Walnut and Zebrano ones here's one in Oak!
Oak is a beautiful wood to turn and has it's own characteristic grain pattern, one of my favourite woods to turn!

Here's a couple of new miniature urns I have made recently!
Turned by hand without a jig I am really pleased with the shape, not quite a perfect sphere but close enough! So far in Zebrano and Walnut with more types to come hopefully, I will be on the search for some interesting wood!

Wooden bowl made from Sweet Chestnut filled with wooden fruit.
Stunning piece of figured sweet Chestnut with yellow stain to highlight the grain and chatoyance with fruits made from Oak, limed Oak, red Padauk, Zebrano and Walnut.
I love the character in this sweet Chestnut, it's a really underrated wood I think, mainly because it it a bit soft for a hardwood and not as suited to fine detail but with a bit of care some lovely patterning can be brought out. I don't usually stain my work but it does benefit this wood.
I've been meaning to add these to my Etsy shop for ages and have finally got around to it!

Bowl of fruit.
Ash bowl coloured on the outside with Hampshire sheen intrinsic Forest green.
Fruits are pear from Oak and apples from Spalted Beech, Walnut, Oak and Red Padauk - no additional colouring required!
All topped off with a turned Walnut stem.

I haven't been posting here much lately but things are still going strong behind the scenes at wood turning HQ!

These miniature funeral urns are the mainstay of my business these days and have found their way all around the world and given the nature of their use it is good to know that they will be treasured and looked after for decades to come.

More Zebrano keepsake urns.
Following on from the previous post here are some more of my other Zebrano keepsakes. A teardrop urn and a Zebrano apple urn.
Tried a fancy composition this time !
Zebrano is such a great wood, it always looks dramatic.

Miniature urns made from Zebrano.

I've recently been able to get hold of good quality Zebrano wood again so have been able.tp finally restock these miniature urns. Zebrano is great for these as with a little effort the grain on the cap and the urn can be made to align perfectly when the top is screwed on which gives a really pleasing look. Very happy with these!

Yes it's that time of year again!
The first of this year's Christmas robins have escaped from the workshop ❄️🎄
I know it seems early but there's less than 3 months to Christmas itself and only 2 months to my only Christmas market this year at Dronfield hall barn and anyway I love Christmas so I am always pleased to see them!
