From 12 August 2026, the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) began to apply generally across the EU.

Compliance doesn't stop with the product. As new packaging requirements come into force, Wolf Safety has issued an EU and UK Declaration of Conformity covering packaging across a wide range of our ATEX and IECEx certified products.

For customers and distributors operating across international markets, packaging compliance is another important part of supply-chain assurance.

Our latest blog explains what the new requirements mean and how Wolf is supporting compliant product supply across the UK, Europe and international markets.

Another substantial shipment is leaving Sheffield today, destined for two projects operating offshore Angola. FPSOs present some of the most demanding working environments in the energy sector, where reliable Hazardous Area equipment is essential for maintaining safe and efficient operations.

This latest consignment includes Hazardous Area temporary lighting and associated equipment that will support work on board floating production facilities in one of Africa’s most important offshore oil and gas regions.

Wolf products are trusted on FPSOs and offshore installations around the world, helping operators work safely in potentially explosive atmospheres.

From Sheffield to offshore Angola, this shipment is another example of how Wolf products help keep people safe in hazardous working environments around the world.

Safer transport, same dependable performance. 🔋

Wolf is introducing a new 30% state of charge (SoC) policy for our ATEX and IECEx certified rechargeable products — including the R-50 and R-55 Rechargeable Torches and the Wolflite® XT Rechargeable Handlamp.

Going forward, these products and their replacement batteries will be supplied at a maximum of 30% state of charge (SoC), rather than fully charged, in line with recognised lithium-ion transport safety practice.

Why does it matter? Reducing the stored energy in a battery before transport reduces the potential severity of risk if a cell is ever damaged — a principle already required for standalone spare batteries and increasingly recognised across the transport industry for batteries fitted within equipment.

It's a proactive step from Wolf, and it means your new torch or handlamp may need an initial charge before first use — so be sure to follow the charging instructions supplied with your product.

This week we say a sad but fond farewell to our good friend Aittis, who retires from Wolf Safety after more than eight years of dedicated service.

Graeme joined Wolf in March 2018 as Regional Director – Middle East & Caspian, playing an important role in developing our presence and supporting customers and distributors across the region. In 2025, he moved from the Middle East and Caspian region to take responsibility for Europe.

During his time with Wolf, Graeme has helped develop our business across the Middle East, Europe and beyond, building strong relationships with customers, distributors and colleagues along the way. Whether supporting partners, visiting customers, attending exhibitions or opening up new opportunities, Graeme has always been a fantastic ambassador for Wolf.

Known for his professionalism, experience and willingness to help others, Graeme has made an enormous contribution to Wolf’s success and leaves behind a network of industry contacts and friendships built over many years.

We’re not entirely sure how Graeme will fit retirement into a schedule that already seemed to include more holidays than the rest of us combined, but we’re confident he’ll find a way. One thing we can be sure of is that he will find plenty of time to continue supporting his beloved AFC.

On behalf of everyone at Wolf Safety, thank you, Graeme, for your commitment, friendship and everything you have contributed over the years.

We wish you a long, healthy and very happy retirement. We will miss you!

When selecting Hazardous Area lighting for marine and offshore applications, how much weight should be placed on Marine Type Approval?

For many years, approvals from marine classification societies have provided an additional layer of confidence for shipowners, shipyards, surveyors and specifiers.

But for equipment used in potentially explosive atmospheres, the key question is not simply how many approval marks appear on a certificate.

The more important question is: what does each approval actually prove?

In our latest blog, we look at the relationship between IECEx, ATEX and marine type approval, and explain why IECEx has become such an important international certification framework for Ex equipment.

We also consider where marine type approval may still be relevant, particularly where it is specifically required by a project specification, vessel class or classification society.

For Hazardous Area lighting, specifiers should always consider the core certification requirements, including:

✅ Zone suitability
✅ Gas or dust group
✅ Temperature class
✅ Ambient-temperature rating
✅ Current and verifiable Ex certification
✅ Product marking and instructions
✅ Manufacturer quality assurance

At Wolf Safety, our focus remains on providing safe, reliable and high-quality Hazardous Area lighting, certified to the standards that matter most for the environments in which our products are used.

Sharing knowledge is an important part of supporting the safe use of Hazardous Area equipment.

Jayasurya Shaji recently conducted a presentation and hands-on product demonstration at an aramco facility in Saudi Arabia.

The session provided an opportunity to demonstrate Wolf’s specialist ATEX safety lighting equipment, answer technical questions and discuss the requirements of demanding oil and gas applications.

Thank you to all the participants for their interest and engagement throughout the session.
