First and foremost.... Etsy is greedy. The cut that they take from sellers is absolutely ridiculous and I just wasn't making profit without putting my prices up which I didn't really want to do.
They don't prioritise small businesses anymore. There's just no protection for genuine businesses. There's so much AI and slop on there it just doesn't seem fair. Plus so many resellers.
I didn't like the change they made where the prices changed to show postage included. It made prices seem more than they were and you didn't have a choice to opt in/out and it wasn't previously communicated to sellers.
It's not cost effective. The cut that they take is astronomical but then the fact that they charge you for every single listing you have... For someone like me who has a lot of products and a lot of options it's just not feasible. If I tried to save some time and money by listing, for example, all my sticker books under one listing, that was great cos then people could pick the design they wanted of that product and I only pay for one listing.... However you then can't update your stock levels depending on design it was just 10 sticker books in stock when in reality it could be 4 of one design and 6 of another....which isn't helpful.
The most sales I got from Etsy was over the Christmas period last year and it really saved my butt, plus it was so nice to be posting a little parcel out every other day.... But then Etsy put a hold on my account and would only release the funds to be after 150 days or if I added tracking to all my orders. I can understand they want to protect their customers but there was no warning of this or explanation beforehand and it made me have to redo all of my postage options.
Overall, I don't think my experience with them was positive enough to justify me carrying on. I've had less than 50 sales in total and I just don't see it being worth it.
