Nothing goes to waste in the studio. I'm often left with scraps of interfacing and they can be really useful is stabilising fabric for making memory quilts and cushions. Here I am adding them to the back of a loose weave scarf. I lay them out and them fuse them to the back using parchment paper to protect the iron, the fabric and the board. I actually use more parchment paper in the studio than at home :)

One of the advantages of crafting in a group is being able to share tips and brainstorm ideas. If you add an experienced teacher to the mix, you can get the best of an informal group with a structured session. This is what you get at the Maltby (South Yorkshire) sewing group. You can work on your own projects or take part in some guided sessions if you wish. No pressure, lots of fun and a great way to end the week.

The first guided project will be the wrapped skirt, perfect for the September heatwave we are being promised.

Other activities will be creating pattern blocks for dressmaking, plus I'll be introducing some quilting blocks for our quilters.

Our next term starts next Friday (4th September) and we book half termly. To book, get in touch, or you can book from the website.
