We often get asked when is the best time to appoint an interior designer onto a project. Our answer is always the same: as soon as possible, ideally before or during the initial architect phase.

As interior designers, we refine architectural plans to ensure functionality. We provide cohesive designs, selecting materials and fixtures that align with our clients' lifestyles. We manage budgets, and we handle the complexities of design choices to make our clients' journey as stress free as possible.

On this project, we reassessed the architectural proposal and designed a space that better suited our clients' breif.

Feature ground floor WC 🌿

Our clients had their heart set on a stand-out scheme in their WC, a feature wallpaper with wall panelling below.

Unfortunately, the wall panelling wasn't suitable for the breif, and we needed something that was easier to maintain and protect the walls from water damage.

We proposed tiling the lower wall instead of panelling. We chose this feature tile that worked beautifully with the specified wallpaper.

The WC still has the wow factor our clients were looking for, but with practical finishes that meet their familys needs.

Double-sided fireplace 🔥

When we met our clients to design their stunning new build property, one of their ‘must haves’ in the open plan kitchen was to have a central, double-sided fireplace that would serve both the snug and living space.

The ground floor walls were already in place when we were appointed on the project, and the constraints of the layout didn’t allow us to open up the space as our client wanted, due to the location of the office.

As you can see, the architects drawing shows a large, double-sided traditional log burner that juts out into each space. This didn’t allow much room for a TV or any storage around the fire.

Our suggestion was to install a modern bio-ethanol fireplace, with storage shelves on either side and a large TV above.
By putting a full height mirror into the beading to the right-hand side of the fireplace, we created the illusion of an opening without compromising on the space for the seating. This gave our clients the symmetry in the room that they wanted, without having to change the internal wall layouts.

As the home has under floor heating, the fire wasn’t needed as a primary heat source. Bioethanol is the perfect fire for this design as there is no chimney needed, no soot, smoke, or ash, and the versatile design adds warmth and ambience to the space.

Space planning is where architecture meets everyday living.

On new build projects involving an interior designer early allows the layout to be developed around how the space will be used — not just how it’s built.

On this project, we took the original architectural layout and evolved it further, refining flow, functionality, and the interior details that make a home work beautifully day to day. By swapping over the cinema room and bar games area, we created a much more functional entertainment space, with the cinema tucked neatly away around the corner. This then allowed us to make the gym slightly larger 💪

Showing our clients coloured plans and our 3D visuals helps them visualise their finished home and how it will work for them.

Same footprint, thoughtfully reimagined through an interior designer’s lens.

Modern media wall 🖤

We designed this media wall as part of a full home renovation.

Our client wanted a modern, calming, and neutral scheme throughout with black accents and details.

This was one of 2 media walls we designed for this home. With this one located in the formal lounge, we used a muted mid tone wood paired with bronze trim details to add a luxurious feel. The shelf is finished in a neutral microcement, adding some texture to the space.

Watch until the end to see the before - a dated inglenook fireplace. We discussed some design options for modernizing the inglenook, but none of the ideas worked with our clients' vision of contemporary living. In the end, we designed this stunning media wall, which is the focal point of the room 😍
