I’m used to seeing art bring depth and colour to a neutral wall, but the other way around, and the contrast works in exactly the same way. I think with any dark interior, layering lighter elements can stop it falling flat. Nicola definitely got the memo when drenching this bedroom in that gorgeous chocolate brown. I love her choice of artwork here, ‘On the move,’ one of my softer, more flowing neutral pieces, which helps balance the whole room.

Yes, there’s a place for all artwork, of all shapes and sizes, but more often than not when I’m creating, I’m thinking of that one hero piece. I think because I like the simplicity of it. And I know I always come back to feeling, but going with that one piece that you love and that means something to you really will set the mood right, and everything else then just falls into place.

We recently spent the day at Sue’s .and.scandidreams beautiful home, shooting a few pieces from our new collection. While we were there, we got chatting about the Black House, the thinking behind its Scandinavian design, and how each decision was made to create connection with the landscape around it. Part of the reason why we felt our nature-inspired artwork would be at home here.

Sue was incredibly welcoming, and I loved hearing the story behind the build. So have a little listen, and enjoy a look around the house and those amazing views.

These new pieces stay true to our earthy tones and organic style, but this time I found myself thinking more about how the artwork could actually sit in a home. I've played with a warmer palette, wider borders and scale, so there's room for that same sense of play in your home, too.

A little behind the scenes from our latest shoot at The Black House, and a sneak peek at some new pieces too 👀

Nestled into the landscape with huge windows, natural light pouring in and views in every direction, it felt like the perfect setting for our nature-inspired artwork.

It was a lot of fun. Sue .and.scandidreams was the loveliest host, lunch was a real treat, and I loved chatting to her about the story behind the house and her love of Scandi design, simplicity, and a slower way of living.

It’s the final episode of our mini series, and we’re talking size.

Probably one of the things we get asked about most. We chat about sticking to the ‘rules’, how statement pieces are easy to move around and why smaller artwork can still have just as much impact and presence.

Honestly, we could keep talking about all things art and interiors. This is a new style of content for us so we hope you’ve enjoyed listening as much as we enjoyed making it. (and hopefully found some value along the way!)

We might be heading into a heatwave, but this one’s all about ice. Always Moving is one of our most loved pieces, and a favourite of mine, so here’s a bit of the story behind it.

What started out on that glacier then found its way onto canvas, it evolved so naturally as I worked on it, full of flowing movement and feeling, which I think is why it seems to sit so easily in many different homes and interiors.
