We're delighted to be welcoming Andrea Oakwood of Wild Impressions to The Black Thistle on Tuesday 21st July for her Botanical Pollinator Workshop 🌿

A botanical artist and ecologist based in Castle Cary, Andrea creates intricate artworks using real pressed flowers and foliage, celebrating the beauty of our native wildlife and encouraging us to look a little closer at the natural world.

During this relaxed two-hour workshop, Andrea will guide you in creating your own bee, butterfly or other pollinator to take home using carefully preserved botanicals.

No experience is needed - all materials are provided, just bring your curiosity and enjoy a couple of peaceful hours of creativity.

Our space has always been about slowing down - plants, conversation, and time to make or learn something new.

We’ve got a series of workshops coming up, alongside a special talk with , whose work will also be the next exhibition in The Rising Gallery, opening 12th May.

Whether you’re joining us for a workshop or coming along to the talk, these sessions are all about taking a little time out in a calm, plant-filled space.

Taking a little pause

I’m going to be closing over the bank holiday weekend (Saturday–Monday) to rest - it’s been a very full on few weeks and I’m feeling it. Time to listen to my body and take a few days.
