From flood damage disaster to rebuilt dream home, this kitchen was designed to be as un-utilitarian as possible so as to not look 'too kitcheny' in the beautiful open plan family space.

Unbelievably, the homeowners have welcomed guests who didn’t realise it was even a kitchen!

Quick and easy, healthy and delicious, and with incredible energy efficiency, steam ovens are the ultimate cooking machine.

Unlike traditional ovens which use a heating element to cook food with dry, hot air, steam ovens cook food by evenly distributing steam into the cooking space of the oven. The steam condenses when it encounters the food, thereby transferring the heat energy and gently heating the food to the temperature of the steam.

The natural flavour and colour of the food is retained, and significantly less nutrients are lost compared to baking or boiling.

And the really clever bit? As soon as the food has reached the temperature of the steam, it no longer condenses meaning that nothing will scorch or burn - it’s practically impossible to overcook food in a steam oven. You can steam different kinds of foods at the same time and they all cook to perfection.

For Geoff and Beatrice Norman, a new kitchen was part of a far larger renovation project in their dream to achieve the perfect family home. Driven by a desire for high quality cabinetry combined with exceptional functionality, the pair had a very clear vision of how their dream kitchen would work.

“It was so helpful that Angela and Jeremy are passionate about cooking too. They truly understand the importance of functionality and weren’t trying to pigeon hole us into a standard design. The beauty of this room is that the design lends itself equally to intimate gathering as it does to large-scale celebrations.”

What is a shaker kitchen?

Shaker kitchens are a popular choice of cabinet door and drawer design, characterised by their elegant simplicity with a flat centre panel recessed in a symmetrical, straight edged frame.

Traditionally, Shaker kitchens feature simple turned wooden button handles and are often made of hardwood painted in muted pastel colours of grey, green, cream or blue.

To modernise the classic Shaker kitchen style in your Stratford-upon-Avon home, why not think about changing the traditional button handles, pull bar or cup handles.

Or for a sleeker, contemporary ‘handleless’ styling, why not choose a hybrid solution bringing a handleless design together with a Shaker kitchen with ‘push to open' catches or finger rail grooves in the cabinet to allow doors and drawers to be easily opened and closed without the need for any handles.
