Hand knitted quirky designs made with new and hand dyed good quality yarns

I rediscovered the craft of knitting again in 2010 when I stumbled upon the joy of knitting socks on 4/5 double pointed needles. Most of my items are socks but also some wrist warmers, hats, scarves and occasionally other small items. All my items are designed by me and I love to experiment with different wools. Also, I en

joy dyeing yarns and seeing what interesting colours evolve in the process. Before this rediscovery I learned to knit when I was very young, and was taught by my grandmother. I knitted lots of things in those days but always using a pattern! I am very fortunate to live in a beautiful part of the world. The Cotswolds always reveal beautiful colours, whatever the weather, which give me the inspiration for my designs. My crafts are purely a hobby, and selling them gives me the opportunity to share my passion for knitting without making a profit!

This scarf is crocheted using DK/8ply yarn. It’s a great project for left overs and many effects can be created using different colours. Just one stitch is used - double crochet (half double crochet US) and it takes approximately 350g/700m yarn. I will be adding the pattern to my ravelry account soon!

This gilet was a commission and is based on the pattern East Coast Swing by Elizabeth Smith. I was given 300g yarn but needed 400g so I needed to make several adjustments. I knitted the body straight rather than A line and the shoulders were a conventional shape rather than the yoke intended in the pattern. The seed / moss stitch yoke would have taken too much yarn so had I reduced the amount of this stitch. I’m happy with the result as is the client!
