I’m at my first Lyme Regis fossil festival this weekend, 10-5 on Saturday and Sunday. I’ll be under the shelters on Marine Parade near the National Trust shop, flogging my wares in my natty scarf, with wonderful sea views and the sun shining all by all accounts!

So do come down, check out all the fabulous fossil folk in the marquees, enjoy some talks and walks and there are trails and of course the beach to explore, where you can find your own fossils!

Do say hi if you pop by - I may be sat down whilst the wingman mans the ship a bit but I do love to natter and talk all things beach for hours as some of you have had the misfortune to experience, and I wouldn’t want you to miss out! 😂

Palmers had been creating from their brewery in Bridport in Dorset since 1794. The Palmer brothers took over the brewery in 1896 and today their great, great granddaughter is involved in the business - a continuing family affair!

I love finding these bottles and their vulcanite stoppers and have been lucky enough to find a few in my years searching at Lyme.

I’m two days post hemithyroidectomy and I feel pretty good considering - I’ve not needed pain relief since the day of surgery, and whilst my neck does look a bit horrific, I’m told it is healing well!

I find it very hard to just rest but I am trying to listen to my body - after all she’s done me proud this week. To keep my mind occupied I’ve been making up more of these little bottles of treasure and some sea glass art frames - something I used to love making.

Taking it slow and steady has been good for my soul, not just my body. I need to do it more often.

Signing off for a bit whilst I go get stuff fixed that needs fixing, also waving goodbye to this flawless neck, that I didn’t appreciate enough over the last 45 years!

When I found a gorgeous semi circle of an ammonite, perfect in its imperfection, I had the immediate thought of turning them into both studs like these and a half hoop stud to curve under the ear in its whole, using sand casting.

These have turned out well, ready for fossil festival in a couple of weeks. Next step casting!

A brief respite from the blazing sun, followed by a night away under the dappled shade of the trees, just a mummy and the two tiny souls she helped create, evolving and expanding with each passing day into their future selves.
